These team sheets were given out during a series of "NBA HOOPS Nights," which took place primarily between February and April at NBA arenas across the country. Fans attending the game on those nights received a free perforated 12-card sheet featuring NBA Hoops cards of the hometown team's top players. On some sheets, a few of the card slots are sponsors' coupons or advertisements rather than player cards. It was reported that generally between 10,000 and 20,000 card sheets were given away during these promotions. Many of the teams distributed additional card sheets through locally sponsored in-store promotions. The only team not participating was the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers set was actually issued as three panels of three cards plus a Taco Bell game card; only the Teagle card differs from his regular Hoops Series I card, which showed him with the Golden State Warriors. As part of the fourth annual McDonald's Open, the Knicks sheet was distributed to 20,000 youngsters attending a special "Kids Clinic" held October 12, 1990 in Barcelona, Spain. The Knicks team sheet also comes in a second version; after Stuart Gray was traded, another 10,000 new sets were made without Gray but with the additions of Brian Quinnett and John Starks. The Timberwolves cards were issued in four two-card vertical panels with one Burger King coupon per panel. The Supersonics sheet also comes in four versions; one pair of versions (Coke or Combos) has Dale Ellis and Olden Polynice, but after they were traded, reportedly 10,000 new sets were produced which included instead Ricky Pierce and Benoit Benjamin. The Utah Jazz cards were never issued as a sheet but cut into individual cards. All of these 12-card perforated sheets feature standard-size individual cards. The fronts feature color action player photos within a free-throw lane border of silver. Below the picture on a team-color coded bar are the words "NBA Hoops" with the team logo appearing in the lower right corner. The player's name and position are printed in team colors on the upper left edge. The backs sport a similar free-throw lane border with a small head shot of the player located in the upper right portion. The player's biography, college and NBA statistics are provided in separate charts with a brief career summary listed at the bottom. Cards marked with an asterisk are different from their regular issue Hoops card. The cards are unnumbered and checklisted below in alphabetical order. [Collapse]
