Originally intended as a 54-card collection, this set actually contains 57 cards due to variations produced by unintentional mistakes at the production stage. It was the manufacturers intent for each of these Nickname Greats inserts to feature a signed sticker that would also include the featured athletes nickname. Unfortunately, some athletes didn't sign their stickers in the intended fashion and some nicknamed stickers were erroneously placed on other signed cards within the 2006 Greats of the Game product. Please note, our checklist has been carefully constructed to indicate which cards were correctly signed and which weren't. For cards that were correctly produced with nicknamed signature stickers the actual inscription will be listed after the player's name (for example, Al Hrabosky correctly signed all of his stickers as "Al 'The Mad Hungarian' Hrabosky" and all of those stickers were correctly placed on the cards - thus our description is listed as A.Hrabosky Hungarian). Other cards feature no cinknamed stickers whatsoever, such as Bill Madlock. Madlock did sign a good amount of his stickers as Bill "Maddog" Madlock, but those stickers were erroneously placed on other cards in this product and standard Madlock signed stickers were used for this set. Thus, Madlock's card in this set is simply listed as "Bill Madlock". Finally, variations for nicknamed and non-nicknamed stickers have been found for three cards as follows . . . George Foster (50% feature Destroyer inscription and 50% are standard), Andre Thornton (10% feature Thunder inscription and 90% are standard) and Steve Trout (80% feature Rainbow inscription and 20% are standard). Also, an exchange card with a redemption deadline of April 10th, 2009 was seeded into packs for the Dennis Martinez card. On average 1:15 hobby and retail packs contained a Nicknames Greats signed insert. [Collapse]
