This 630-card standard-size set was released in two separate series. The basic Diamond Connection product was issued in August, 2002 and contained cards 1-570. It was issued in five card packs with an SRP of $7 per pack. The first 90 cards featured veteran players while cards 90 through 200 featured rookies and prospects. These cards were issued to a stated print run of 1500 serial numbered sets. The rest of the cards featured memorabilia pieces and were printed to various stated print runs. We have notated that information as to each cards print run. The original packaging of this product left each box short one jersey or bat card. Upper Deck would remedy that situation by later issuing redemption packs through their network of wholesale distributors who then sent the packs to their dealers. It's believed that most (if not all) of cards 536-570 were distributed in these redemption packs. Cards 571-630 were distributed in mid-December, 2002 within packs of 2002 Upper Deck Rookie Update. Cards 571-600 featured veterans on new teams and were commonly distributed in all packs. Cards 601-630 featured prospects and were serial #'d to 1,999. Though stated odds for cards 601-630 were never released by the manufacturer, we believe the cards seeded at an approximate rate of 1:7. [Collapse]
