This 425 card set was issued in two separate series. The Donruss Originals product, containing cards 1-400, was released in September, 2002. This 425 card set was issued in two separate series. The Donruss Originals product, containing cards 1-400, was released in September, 2002. This product was issued in five card packs which were seeded 24 packs to a box and 20 boxes to a case with each pack having a suggested retail price of $3. Fifty cards in this set were printed to a quantity of approximately 20 percent fewer than the other 350 cards in this set. All 50 cards are tagged as SP's in our checklist. This set was issued in the styles of the 1982, 1984, 1986 and 1988 Donruss sets but featured active 2002 players. The "style year" of the card is listed next to the player's name in our checklist. In addition, puzzle pieces featuring the late Ted Williams were randomly inserted into packs. Cards 401-425 were randomly seeded into hobby and retail packs of 2002 Donruss the Rookies (of which was released in mid-December 2002) at the following ratios: hobby 1:3, retail 1:4.
