This 38-card set of the 1997 Salem Avalanche, a Carolina League Class A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, was sponsored by Kroger and Van de Kamp's and features color player portraits on a purple and thin gray-striped background. The backs carry small black-and-white player portraits with player information and career statistics. A set of 10 cards was produced later in the season to update the original set with the added new players. This set displays the same design except the background on front is gray with thin purple stripes. The cards are checklisted at the end with the letter, "U" before their numbers. [Collapse]
