Upper Deck in conjunction with Global Telecommunication Solutions produced this set of 10 phone cards to honor Mickey Mantle, the greatest switch-hitter in baseball history. The set was issued in two five-card sets: series one in early October, and series two later that year. Each five-card set retailed for $59.95. Chronicling his career from 1951 until his 1974 Hall of Fame Induction, the set is a replica of the "Baseball Heroes" insert cards featured in the 1994 Upper Deck baseball series 2. Just 5,000 sets of series 1 were produced, with each card including a bonus one-minute Mantle highlight replay moment. As an added bonus, 500 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings phone cards were randomly inserted in series two sets, while Upper Deck distributed its allotment to the first 450 orders received from hobby dealers. Only 2,000 Red Stocking cards were produced. The phone cards are unnumbered and checklisted below in chronological order. [Collapse]
