This set of 160 cards marks the inaugural effort of the Ted Williams Card Company. The standard-size cards are UV-coated, and bear the company's embossed logo. The card designs vary from subset to subset, and since the borderless cards feature players of the past (with only two exceptions), some of the photos on the fronts are black-and-white, some are color, and still others are sepia-toned. Generally, the backs carry Williams' comments on each player's abilities and career highlights. All the cards are grouped according to team. This set features these subsets: The Negro Leagues (97-115), All-American Girls' Professional Baseball League (116-120), Ted's Greatest Hitters (121-130), Barrier Breakers (131-140), Goin' North (141-150), and Dawning of a Legacy (151-160), which features cards of Juan Gonzalez and Jeff Bagwell, the only two current players in the set. Ted Williams personally signed 406 of his Locklear Collection insert card for this set and Juan Gonzalez signed 172 cards (43 each of his four different regular cards in this set) as well. Also, two POGs, or milk bottle caps, were inserted in each pack. These feature illustrations of former major and Negro league players, logos of their teams, and reproductions of selected signatures of former major league players. [Collapse]
