The cards in thie 67-card set measure 3" by 4". The 1961 Union Oil set of sepia, unnumbered cards contains players from six Pacific Coast League teams. Individual player cards were available only in their respective cities at Union 76 stations. The backs are in blue print and give player biographies and depict the Union 76 logo. Spokane players are more difficult to obtain than players from other teams. The Gomez and Prescott cards are scarce. The Mike Hershberger card actually depicts Bobby Knoop. Cards are numbered alphabetically with team (except Tacoma's uniform numbering) and have a prefix before the number indicating the team, i.e. Hawaii (H), Portland (P), San Diego (SD), Sacramento (S), Spokane (SP) and Tacoma (T). Later on in the 1961 season, some exhibition games were played between the Taiyo Whales of Japan and the Hawaii team. We are listing those cards at the end of our listing for this set. [Collapse]
