Record Prices For Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards
12/13/2004 9:19:54 AM

The Upper Deck Company recently released a very rare Yu-Gi-Oh! card called Cyber-Stein at the Shonen Jump Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship held at the 2004 Gen Con So Cal. Only two Cyber-Stein cards were released at the event. One was given to the winner of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship event and the other was raffled off. One of the Cyber-Stein cards (numbered SJC-EN001), was recently put up for auction on eBay. The opening bid was 25 cents and because of the incredible scarcity of the card, as of December 13th, the price shot up to a whopping $25,100. Upper Deck Entertainment has confirmed that the next Cyber-Stein card will be given away Feb 6, 2005 at the Shonen Jump Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship in Las Vegas. For more details on that event visit www.ude.com. In addition to the Cyber-Stein, another rare Yu-Gi-Oh! card called Card of Sanctity is also commanding big bucks. This card was recently given away to 100 kids through a special Kids’ WB Yu-Gi-Oh! TV promotion. The Card of Sanctity along with a $300 Yu-Gi-Oh! card set sold for an astounding $5100! Many thought that Yu-Gi-Oh! was going to drop in popularity the same way Pokemon once did – not so! With the incredible interest in owning a scarce Yu-Gi-Oh! card, it goes to show us how strong this Yu-Gi-Oh! property truly is. And, this could only be the beginning. We might see more record card prices in the near future. The current prices and info on these two cards will be featured in the next issue of Beckett Anime Unofficial Collector magazine #66. On sale in early January.
