years ago Eggman was finally arrested. Sonic and the rest were finally able to live normal lives this is ten years later. Most of them have grown up and have jobs.

Knuckles- guarding the master emerald
Tails- works part time at the repair shop he will be going to collage soon
Shadow- lives on the street 
Amy- works at a fashion industry
Rouge- head of a fashion industry
Julie su- works at the store where Rouge’s fashions are sold

Cosmo- still in school going to collage soon
Sonia- works at music store
Manic- works at music store
Jet- works at a repair shop
Wave- works at a repair shop
Vector- attending spy academy
Espio- attending ninja academy
Charmy- still in school
Saffron- still in school
Sally- princess of acorn
Silver- works at the store where Rouge’s fashions are sold
Blaze- works at hair salon
Tikal- works at fragrance store

So the story is kinda like this. After defeating Eggman Sonic achieved his dream to run wherever and whenever he wanted. Tails let him stay at his house during winter but now Tails is going to collage and Sonic has to find a job like everyone else so he doesn’t freeze to death. Sonic has returned to town this summer in search of a permanent job but there will be twists along the way.

I made this cuz' some people were upset on 4idstv that I wasn't continuing SBTS cuz' the one I'm gonna write soon won't be appropriate for the site. so I had this idea in my head it will be appropriate without even trying.

Chapter 1
Sonic was running one final lap along a local beach. He normally didn’t like the water nearby but the sand was great for running. It was summer and unfortunately for Sonic now 25 he must find a job. Well this is it he thought to himself looking back at the beach heading to town. He was disappointed but perhaps he would find some time for fun. He walked over to Tails house he was pretty busy since he was going to collage in the fall but he still had time to help Sonic find a job.
“Hi Tails.” Sonic said with mostly disappointment in his voice.
“Hey Sonic” Tails slid out from under a machine he was working on a few spatters of oil on his face. “Oh do you think you could pick up a few things for me?” he handed Sonic a list of items
Shampoo
Mobius academy T-shirt
portable tool box
Nintendo Wii
Headphones
Motor Oil
Donuts
Car tire
Vanilla scented candles
cup of coffee
To Do list:
deliver blueprints to GUN
deliver background to Rouge’s fashion industry
give chaos emerald to Knuckles
“I’m really sorry to give you all these things to do Sonic but I’m really busy. Oh heres some money to pay for everything”
“That’s okay I’ll get them all done in no time.”
“It will be a good way to see who’s hiring”
“Alright well I better get going.” Sonic sped off while Tails returned to his machine.
Sonic decided to go in the order of the list starting with Shampoo. He then found the local hair salon and walked in.
“Welcome how may I help y...Sonic!”
“Blaze!”
“I haven’t seen you in forever where have you been?!”
“Running but I’m here for the summer trying to find a job.”
“Well we have enough employees for the summer but maybe I can get you a job here if you need it. I own the place you know”
“Okay I’ll keep that in mind thanks.”
A black white female hedgehog approached them.
“Okay Blaze I finished cleaning up the place is there anything else you want me to do?”
“Thanks Macie. There’s a new shipment of shampoo in the back. Could you get some boxes and Tracy can organize them on the shelves?”
“Right away Blaze” she went to gather the boxes and handed them to Tracy a light blue male hedgehog.
“Was there something you needed?” Blaze asked Sonic
“Oh yes Tails wanted me to get some shampoo.”
“Here you go.”Tracy walked over and handed some to him then returned to stocking the shelves.
Sonic paid for Tails’ shampoo told Blaze good bye and left to go and buy the shirt. He actually found the store next door and to his surprise found clothes floating in the air folding themselves and settling on the racks. Then he saw Silver placing more clothes on the racks and Julie SU behind the counter.
“Oh hi Sonic!” Julie called and Silver looked over “I assume Tails sent you here for his T-shirt order.”
“Yeah he did he’s pretty busy with collage and all.”
“Well I have the order right here” Silver was behind him and handed him a bag. “It’s already prepaid.”
“Okay thanks Silver. Hope to see you guys later I still have more stuff to get bye.”
“That’s Sonic alright he never changes.” Silver sighed humored by Sonic being in such a hurry. Then they both got back to work.

Chapter 2
Sonic continued finding the items Tails needed. He wondered where the rest of his friends are working now. He stopped by the repair shop and waited at the counter. After a few moments one of the employees came over.
“Oh Hi Sonic.” he looked over to find Wave over the counter
“Hi Wave,”
“Hey Jet look who it is it’s Sonic.”
Jet came over
“Well hi Sonic haven’t seen you in a while. I’m suspecting you’re here for Tails’ order huh?”
“Yes”
“Well here you go don’t worry he already paid.”
Wave handed Sonic the toolbox
“Thanks see you later.” Then he ran off again next was the Wii. Sonic didn’t exactly understand what Tails needed it for maybe to entertain friends or something. He actually passed the store but then turned around and walked in. He discovered that they were all in cases needing a key from an employee. He walked up to the counter to a Hedgehog named Shocks.
“Excuse me I was hoping to purchase a Nintendo Wii”
“Oh course oh hey are you Sonic?!”
“Um Yes”
“Yeah I thought you looked familiar.” he got Sonic what he needed and checked him out.
“I haven’t seen you around the past few years.”
“Well I’ve been busy running around but now I need to find a job.”
“Well good luck then.” Shocks said the Sonic ran off again only this time to Tails’ house to drop off the stuff then continue getting the stuff on the list. When he heard a car horn and turned around to see Charmy and Saffron in a light Yellow convertible.
“Whoa Charmy nice car!”
“Oh It’s Saffron’s she’s letting me drive it. So how have you been?”
“Good I guess trying to find a job.”
Then the light turned green
“Sorry Sonic we have to go!” Saffron said quickly before Charmy continued driving.
Sonic continued off to the music store wondering why exactly Tails needed all this stuff. Then when he entered he discovered a huge shock...
“Manic! Sonia!”
“Sonic!”
“Wow you guys work here?!”
“Yeah Mom bought it for us!” Manic exclaimed
“So how have you been?” Sonia asked
“Ok I guess but I have to find a job.”
“Well you can work here.” Manic shouted
“Only if he can’t find anywhere else to work.” Sonia told him “He needs to learn to fend for himself. By the way Sonic are you here to actually buy something?”
“Um yes” he checked the list again “Tails needs headphones.”
Manic checked him out and Sonic left back to the repair shop to pick up oil. Then to the grocery store to pick up donuts. Then back to the shop for a tire. He dropped the stuff of at Tails’ then continued. On his way to the fragrance shop he ran into someone familiar Princess Sally.
“Why hello Sonic.” she greeted him “How are you?”
“Ok I guess I’m looking for a job.” he had said that sentence so often today that it came to him almost automatically.
“Oh well if you need a little help financially I could always assist you.”
“Thanks Sal I’m covered for now. So what are you doing here? I’d think you’d be busy with work.”
“I’m off for the summer.”
“Oh cool. well I gotta get going.” He sped off again leaving Sally amused.
He went in the shop on discovered Tikal.
“Wow I’ve been seeing everyone around today.”
“Yeah a lot of us found jobs around here. You’re here for the candles right?”
“How’s you know?”
“News travels quickly.” she checked him out “Oh and tell Amy I said hi.”
“Oh Amy where does she work now?”
“You’ll find out”
Then Sonic left a bit confused

Chapter 3
After getting the coffee for Tails (Tails needed it because he was up all night) Sonic went over to GUN to deliver the blueprints for...whatever. He didn’t bother to look. After passing through security he met a light brown cat.
“I’ll take those off your hands for you.” He handed her the blueprints and she gave them to a black and pink echidna. “Aurora please take these to the back room.”
“No problem Hope.” she replied then walked off. Sonic then decided to leave to his next task.
He stopped in front of a huge building and walked inside. A young blond human woman at the front desk told him which floor and room to go to. As he approached the desk and handed the envelope to whom he was supposed to. He noticed something.
“Amy...is that you?!”
She looked up surprised for a moment.
“Oh Sonic wow I don’t think I’ve seen you in years.”
“Y-yeah not in...um three years I think.” he blushed Amy had seemed to change a lot three years older, three years smarter, three years prettier.
“Well it’s a pleasure to see you again. Was there something you needed?”
Sonic was a bit disappointed by her tone she was acting quite professional. Perhaps she didn’t care anymore...
“Um yes I was supposed to give you this.” he handed her an envelope
“Thank you very much...Well have a nice day.”
She showed no interest in her tone as if she was talking to a regular customer.
“”Maybe I’ll see you around sometime.” Sonic was surprised at himself he was actually disappointed that Amy didn’t like him anymore.
“Yes maybe I will.” she sounded bored the truth was she had lost interest. She had gone to collage and then worked at her job. Although she didn’t completely forget about Sonic.
“M-maybe you could show me around sometime. The town has changed a lot.” Sonic tried
“It has.” She realized what Sonic was trying to do. “Perhaps sometime.” she kept acting professionally she didn’t care for him like that anymore.
“Oh heck Will you go out with me?” Sonic just asked straight up
“Excuse me?!”
“I just wondered if you wanted to you know hang out sometime.”
Amy was confused she wondered why he would ask this.
“Ok”
“Wha?”
“Ok I’ll go out with you sometime.” she shrugged “Any specific times?”
“Um....”
“Just meet me here at seven and we’ll decide from there.”
“Ok then bye!”
He left although not so satisfied. He knew now that hell have to work a little harder to impress her.

Chapter 4
Shadow sat outside in the alley next to a huge building. He shivered a bit the sun was starting to go down and it was getting cold but luckily it was summer so it wasn’t as cold. Winters were almost unbearable but the summer days were hot as well.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw a light blue female hedgehog approach him.
“Saliena I’ve been waiting for you all day.” he gazed hungrily at the package she had
“The Money?” she asked
Shadow pulled out a ring “It’s all I have but please let me have it.” he was looking up from his knees begging.
She was silent for a moment
“Please I’m begging you!” he hadn’t eaten anything in two days and he was starving. He looked pathetic but he didn’t care.
“Okay you can have it.” she set the package down, took the single ring, and left.
Shadow opened it quickly and discovered food and it was fresh. He hadn’t eaten fresh food in a while mostly whatever people threw out. He gobbled it up in seconds not wasting a single crumb. Then he crawled into the cardboard box that served as his home.

Amy waited outside the office.
“Hi”
She turned around to see Sonic wearing a pair of jeans.
“Oh hi.”
“So...do you want to um show me some stuff.”
“Yeah sure but can we stop at my house real quick so I can change into something more casual? It would be weird walking around town in a business suit.”
“Sure I don’t mind.”
They went into her car and drove off.

Blaze had finished work and was closing up the shop. When she saw someone approach her.
“Hi Blaze”
“Hi Silver” she greeted her boyfriend with a hug “So What are you doing here?”
“I wanted to ask you something.”
“Oh what is it?”
He went to the ground got on one knee and pulling out a box from his jeans pocket opened it up to reveal a ring.
“Blaze will you marry me?”
“Yes!” she hugged him again completely happy.

After they went back to Amy’s house and she got changed she started showing him the different places in town.
“Over there is the library. They remodeled it last year and it looks really nice now.”
“Whoa it’s huge.”
“Yes and over there is nice little lunch place. I go there once in a while. They have great coffee.”
“Nice”
“So Sonic how was collage for you?”
“It was okay. I didn’t like studying.”
“Me neither. Sometimes I would have to stay up all night.”
“What do you do at Rouge’s business?”
“I’m a designer. It was my major in collage. Rouge really liked some of my designs so she hired me. It’s been a great year.”
“It’s good you have connections.”
“Speaking of that. Everyone will be meeting for dinner next week. It would be nice if you could come.”
“Oh sure I could come.”
“It’s just really a reunion sort of thing.”
“Sounds good.”

Chapter 5
Sonic and Amy continued on their walk around town then thinking about the reunion he asked Amy curiously...
“You know what I haven’t seen Shadow in a while. Does anybody know what happened to him?”
“Nobody knows he quit working for Eggman and no one has seen him since. I hope he’s okay where ever he is.”
The next day it was raining badly. Rouge walked out of her building on the way she had some rash to throw out. She simply tossed it in the trash. Then she heard a slight scream. Did the trash an just yell at her? She saw a figure emerge it looked like a startled black hedgehog. Then she recognized it.
“Shadow is that you?”
He looked up with his red eyes now dull with shame.
“Rouge?”
“Yeah it’s me. I’m sorry I scared you but why were you sleeping in a trash can?”
“It’s raining so the cardboard box that I usually stay in....is flat” he pointed to a drenched now flat and worthless cardboard box.
“Shadow...How long have you been living out here?”
“Since I left collage and quit working for Eggman. I had nowhere else to go and no one would hire me so...” he looked down ashamed.
Rouge stood there for a moment then grabbed Shadow’s arm and started pulling him down the street.
“Where are you taking me?”
“Back to my place there is no way you’re living here anymore!” She was able to get a closer look at him he seemed very thin, he had dirt sploshes in different parts of his fur, he smelled slightly, and he looked a little pale. She couldn’t leave him there.
“I-I don’t want to cause you trouble...”
“Nonsense! It’s no trouble at all.” She let him under her umbrella and they walked to her house. The rain had started to stop.
Rouge’s house was huge. When they got inside she handed Shadow some towels, mouthwash, a robe, and other bathroom items.
“You go take a nice shower and I’ll clean up your shoes and make you something to eat.”
Before Shadow could protest she pushed him into the bathroom and started cleaning his shoes which didn’t take long because of how “advanced” they were. Then she started cooking a nice hot meal.
Shadow came out of the bathroom later he had lost his smell and dirt and felt so much better.
“Oh Hi Shadow Dinner’s almost ready have a seat.”
He sat on one of the living room couches it was the most comfortable thing he had felt in years. Then after a few minutes the smell of food lingered from the dining room. He got up and walked in to be awestruck by delicious looking food.
“Well just don’t stare at it Dig in!”
Shadow hesitated for a moment then nearly attacked everything. Then paused he had forgotten his manners he had not even thanked her or asked her if she wanted anything.
“Oh I’m so sorry Thank you I appreciate it and would you like anything?” His mouth was still full of food when he asked
“Don’t worry about it enjoy yourself. Oh and if you don’t mind you’ll be staying in the guest room upstairs.”
He swallowed “I couldn’t possibly...”
“It’s no trouble. Now enjoy your dinner while I get it ready.”

Chapter 6
Sonic walked through town the next couple of days. Looking for job openings. He was bored Tails was often busy getting ready for collage so he had no one to talk to. Everyone was working. Then the thought crawled into his mind again. What happened to Shadow? He hoped he was okay. Probably had his own job like everyone else. He hoped he would see him at the dinner. But it was unlikely. Somehow he had a feeling that something terrible had happened to him.
“Now make yourself at home and call me if you have any problems.”
Shadow nodded silently then asked “Where are the job listings?”
“I set them on the table but you don’t need to look for a job right now.” she looked at Shadow again.
“You don’t look well.” she commented “Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine”
“Okay well if you feel sick call me right away. One of my employees looked like you one day then he passed out while shredding papers and needless to say it wasn’t pretty.”
“I told you I’m fine.”
“Alright then remember to take care of those cuts too.” Then she left for work.
He spent hours looking outside thinking about stuff then suddenly he didn’t feel well. He shook it off but then the feeling persisted. He remembered he was next to a window and slowly moved away to avoid disaster. Then he remembered the paper shredder story which actually scared him and reluctantly decided to call. He picked up the phone Rouge bought for him and hit the speed dial button which would lead directly to her cell phone. Before she could pick up however he passed out.
Rouge was in the middle of a meeting when her phone rang. She paused the meeting and looked at the number she answered it a bit worried.
“Hello?” there was no answer which caused her to worry more.
“Hello?” still no reply. Her employees were looking at her. She hung up quickly.
“I’m very sorry but there is an emergency and I need to leave. Amy your in charge while I’m gone.” then she left the room, Exited the building, hopped into her car, and drove off.
Meanwhile Cosmo arrived at Tails’ house. He was still busy working on stuff.
“Hi Tails.” she greeted her boyfriend
“Oh hi Cosmo.” he replied looked up wiping the oil off his face. “How are you?”
“Fine I’m just here to pick up a few things I left. I was just letting you know I was here.”
“Okay then but you don’t have to leave why don’t you stay for dinner?”
“Okay.”
Tails went back to work and Cosmo grabbed her things. She decided to turn on the TV and screamed causing Tails to fly up immediately.
“What’s wrong?!” then he looked at the TV and saw it.
“I think you better contact Sonic.” Cosmo said not taking her eyes off the television while Tails fumbled with his phone to send Sonic a text message. Sonic still walking through the streets picked it up and was shocked by what he had read. He turned to his right in front of the electronics store where the TVs in the window were on the news and he saw it himself.
It was true Eggman had escaped from jail...
