Andrew Luck, QB, Indianapolis Colts
In Peyton Manning’s return to Indianapolis, Andrew Luck showed why the Colts were willing to go with a rookie over a proven star. Luck did everything he needed to defeat the previously unbeaten Denver Broncos.
He completed 21-of-38 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns without throwing any interceptions. He also ran in a touchdown to beat Denver 39-33.
Ryan Mathews, RB, San Diego Chargers
For the second straight week, San Diego running back Ryan Matthews topped 100 yards on the ground. Mathews ran for 102 yards and a TD in a 24-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rookies of the Week
Le’Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
The rookie out of Michigan State had 19 carries for 93 yards in a 19-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens
Eddie Lacy, RB, Green Bay Packers
Lacy had another good outing with 82 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in a 31-13 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Breakout Players of the Week
Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets
The fourth-year player had 34 carries for 104 yards in a 30-27 overtime win over the New England Patriots – just the fourth 100-yard game of his career.
Chandler Jones, DE, New England Patriots
One more game and the second-year player will match all of his stats from last season. Jones had 11 tackles (eight solo), two sacks, one tackle for a loss and a forced fumble in a 30-27 overtime loss to the Jets.
