2016-Upper-Deck-NHL-Heritage-Classic-Winnipeg-Jets-Patrik-Laine

By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor

This weekend, the 2016 NHL Heritage Classic takes place in Winnipeg and before the visting Edmonton Oilers take on the hometown Jets, Upper Deck is going to be part of the action as it is visiting both local card stores and the hotly-anticipated outdoor game.

Heading into the Heritage Classic, the Jets are on a high as they came back  from a 4-0 deficit last night to defeat Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-4 in overtime. The win was capped by Patrik Laine‘s third goal of the night, which was also the first career hat trick for the second pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Jets fans visiting area card stores today and tomorrow can get a 10-card set featuring veteran stars like Mark Scheifele, Dustin Byfuglien, and Blake Wheeler with a $20.00 purchase. Even better than that is the first card of Laine in his NHL uniform, which can be obtained only by purchasing a box of 2016-17 Upper Deck hockey cards.

Upper Deck will be visiting Joe Daley’s Sportscards at 513 St. Mary’s Road from 11:30 to 1:00 on Thursday before moving on to AJ’s (2:00 to 3:00, 1117 Empress St.) and Superstars Sports Collectibles (3:30 to 6:30, 1885 C Portage Avenue). Friday’s visits are at Sports Card Connection (12:00 to 1:00, 51 D St. Annes Rd.), Lower Level Sports Cards (3:00 to 5:00, 1-189 Henderson Hwy.), and Cancentral Card & Supply (1381 Erin St. Suite 1A).

For those planning to attend the game, Upper Deck will be at Spectator Plaza and handing out samples of their 2016-17 Upper Deck Tim Hortons release along with a very small number of the 2016-17 Upper Deck Heritage Classic sets. On top of that, there will be a chance for visitors to pose for their very own hockey card that they can take home and share with family and friends.

Fans in Edmonton that could not make it to the Heritage Classic this weekend should not feel left out, though, as there is a special five-card promotion set available at card shops in that is available as a gift with a minimum $20.00 purchase. Those opting to buy a full box of specific Upper Deck products in store will also receive a card 0 of rookie Jesse Puljujarvi, who was the third overall selection in 2016.

Naturally, these cards will only be available while supplies last and with the demand for Laine’s cards growing in anticipation for some of Upper Deck’s 2016-17 products, they could be given away quickly.
