Upper Deck Commemorates Tiger's Return with New Memorabilia
As one of the only companies that stood by Tiger Woods during the scandal-laden treachery of his last four months, Upper Deck was understandably thrilled by his ballyhooed return to competitive golf at this week’s Masters.
Woods’ fired a like-he-never-left 4-under 68 in Thursday’s opening round that left him just two strokes off the lead — and likely added a good share of names to the waiting list for a handful of new Upper Deck Authenticated Woods items.
In all, UDA unveiled five new items this week to commemorate Tiger’s comeback — ranging in price from $199.99 (for a display case that contains a photo of Tiger as well as one of his used driving-range balls that’s limited to 50 pieces) t0 $1,999.99 (for an autographed Tiger-model Dri-Fit Polo limited to 100 pieces). Other new items include autographed versions of the driving-range ball display ($699.99, limited to 50), an autographed Tiger-model TW Tour Flex cap ($999.99, limited to 100) and an autographed pair of Tiger-model Air Zoom TW 2010 golf cleats ($1,399.99, limited to 50).
“We’re extremely excited to showcase these latest products celebrating Tiger’s return to the PGA Tour,” said Upper Deck CEO Richard McWilliam. “We wish him well this week as we’ve put together some pretty compelling items that we’re confident collectors will no doubt cherish.”
The items will be available soon through the company website.
Upper Deck’s exclusive relationship with Tiger began in 2001. According to UD officials, Woods remains one of the company’s best-selling athletes of all time.
If Tiger should win his 15th major — and fifth green jacket — this week, look for some additional items from UDA to honor that achievement, too.
