Topps‘ ongoing hobby shop redemption-card promotion, Prime 9, is beginning its seventh week with this week’s selection being Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle.
Collectors who ripped into hobby boxes of 2011 Topps Series 2 should have found Prime 9 redemptions at a rate of two per box. The redemption cards do not disclose the player, but rather the week that the card should be taken to their closest participating HTA hobby shop to be exchanged for the player’s card, which is a Refractor printed on Chrome stock.
And, of course, if collectors fill out the entry form on the back, they’ll have a chance to win a trip to the World Series.
The Prime 9 players are not a surprise — you can see all nine above — but the order they are available to collectors participating in the program is. (Unless, of course, your participating hobby shop simply sold off the cards — which has happened, putting a damper on the program.)
Past weeks’ players include:
Week 1 — Johnny Bench
Week 2 — Albert Pujols
Week 3 — Jackie Robinson
Week 4 — Derek Jeter
Week 5 — Mike Schmidt
Week 6 — Hank Aaron
Week 7 — Mickey Mantle
