The adjectives of a champion are similar. The traits they carry, the qualities they imbue stand out above the rest.

Courage. Honor. Heart.

We all use those words describe the greats. Topps is taking that sentiment and turning it into a football product creating an extensive high-end product for its collectors.

Valor.

With one packs per box, collectors are going to clean up on hits with 2012 Valor. There are two on-card rookie autographs, one veteran/retired autograph card, one rookie patch card and two base cards.

The on-card rookie autographs will come in two forms Legionary and Valor autographs with up to 40 subjects on each card. The veteran/retired autographs will be called Centurion autographs. For both, parallels won’t take on the form of different colors as in previous Topps’ products.

But instead there will be several parallels using the words to describe champions. There will be Speed, Strength, Heart, Honor, Courage parallels and more.

And how would Topps describe dual- or multi-autographs?

Alliance autographs.

Often they will have rookies and veterans paired together having the players united.

The one-per pack Rookies Patches will bear the name Field Armor Patch Cards with the autograph cards being named Shield of Honor Autograph Patch Cards.

The autographs in the set include, but definitely not limited to Andrew Luck, Brandon Weeden, Doug Martin, Frank Gore, Jeremy Maclin, Jim Kelly, Kurt Warner, Michael Vick, Percy Harvin, Tony Romo and Trent Richardson.

Diamonds are a football player’s best friend.

That’s the theme of one of the inserts in Panini Momentum, which comes out next week.

The company released several images of the upcoming product including a preview of the Studs insert.

These cards feature football players who are known for wearing diamond stud earrings. Some of the players include Michael Vick, Hines Ward, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson (formerly Ochocinco).

The picture isn’t the greatest, but if you take a look at the dominant ear in the all the photos, you’ll notice something on their ear lobes.

So what is it?

In Panini’s words: “real-diamond-encrusted Studs insert.”

In today’s “Panini Peek,” the Texas-based card company offered a limited look at 2011 Limited Football — a product that proudly boasts a checklist of cards numbered to 499 or less.

Confirming a late-November release, Panini detailed the seven-card-per-pack  product with high hit counts, subsets and brand enhancements. Among those improvements, Material Phenoms Rookie Cards and other freshmen-focused features take center stage.

Material Phenoms offers what the company explains as its “most extensive and star-studded lineup of Draft-Day-worn hats and jerseys ever.” According to the manufacturer, these  wanted rookies are made even more desirable with on-card autographs, prime memorabilia and a limited print run. To seal the deal, each one will be numbered to 299 or less.

Draft Day Lids & Jerseys is an aptly named insert set, headlined by hats and jerseys actually worn by players on their respective draft dates.  This set spans 13 top NFL Draft picks and each card here will be numbered to 199 or less. And, in even even rarer territory, limited-to-10-or-less Rookie Lettermen inserts will resurface with letter patches inked by the biggest names in the 2011 draft class.

Now of course, Limited isn’t limited to newcomer cardboard.

Playing with its words, Panini’s Limitless inserts are said to include “scarce autographs from the NFL’s most dynamic players.” These cards are numbered to 199 or less and feature the likes of Michael Vick, Adrian Peterson, Sam Bradford and other gridiron dominators.

Promising more Rookie Gridiron Gems than in previous years, Panini America‘s 2011 Gridiron Gear will arrive to the pleasure of pullers in mid November.

The manufacturer revealed information today regarding the influx of these now numbered-to-349, eight-per-case Rookie Cards and more about the upcoming release.

Through 18 packs, a box of 2011 Gridiron Gear should yield:

• Two autographs limited to 349 or less
• Two memorabilia cards numbered to 299 or less
• 18 Rookie Cards
• Nine other inserts or parallels

Panini’s director of product development Ben Ecklar explained, “Unique collectible enhancements such as the pull-out memorabilia autographs, embedded rubber helmets and NFL field plates really make Gridiron Gear stand out from the crowd and give the product a distinct and instantly recognizable identity among collectors.”
