Golf was lacking from the hobby for many years. However, Upper Deck is bringing it back in a big way.

The company released images of 2012 SP Game Used Golf featuring an autograph and a memorabilia card in every pack.

SP Game Used is set to come out in February with three five-card packs in every box. Each pack will also come with three base cards or Retro Rookies.

Some of the top hits include Inked Drivers, signatures on pseudo metal-driver club face; First Tee autographed Rookie Cards, and a number of memorabilia cards from golfers on the tour, including Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.

And there is Rory McIlroy, one of the world’s best golfers, who will be featured heavily in upcoming golf products. His debut will be in SP Game Used.

However, McIlroy’s first card will be a tough pull, falling at a rate of 1 in 72 packs and marked #SP1.

His regular base cards will appear in 2013 Upper Deck golf products.

When this year’s editions of Press Pass Legends arrives on Oct. 18, it will be packing legends from the past and a few potential stars of the future.

And it will be packing their autographs — often with a bit more — as in inscriptions to go along with their autographs inside 2012 Press Pass Legends Hall of Fame Edition.

From hot rookie Robert Griffin III to golf legend Jack Nicklaus, there will be plenty of variety in this one — and more than a few interesting things jotted along with their signatures.

Here is an exclusive 17-card inscriptions gallery courtesy of Press Pass — all cards that feature added notations along with the ink.

Among some of the notables signing for the set that aren’t seen here? Rickey Henderson, Larry Bird, Bo Jackson, Chuck Noll  and Stan Musial.

Among the legends on a selection of 1/1 cut autographs? Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Jackie Robinson, Roger Maris, Sandy Koufax and Ted Williams.

The Hall of Fame title creates a certain feeling. Athletes voted in are usually the best of the best, the greatest of a generation.

Press Pass is bringing a product that is full of autographs from only these athletes. Every autograph in its Hall of Fame Legends Edition will be of a Hall of Famer member such as baseball’s Nolan Ryan and Rickey Henderson, football’s Joe Greene, golf’s Jack Nicklaus and basketball’s Larry Bird.

Hall of Fame Legends Edition will feature four autographs in every tin. The cards will come in various levels such as base autos, Fan Favorites and Champions.

All cards are numbered to 99 or less and four parallels that are numbered to 10 or less. In addition, collectors can find short-printed red ink autographs and inscriptions.

Hall of Famers are usually favorite players of collectors, evoking personal memories for fans. Press Pass seems to use athletes from many sports with a focus on the most popular. Other players in the product include Chuck Noll, Nick Buoniconti, Randy Couture, Ozzie Smith, Stan Musial, Ronnie Lott, Art Shell and James Worthy.

There are also cut autographs of players such as Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson and Ty Cobb.

There are two exceptions to the Hall of Fame rule.

Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III will also have autographs in Hall of Fame Legend Edition as Rookie Fame autographs.

After a lengthy absence from the golf scene, Upper Deck is coming back with a new set this year.

SP Authentic is scheduled for a June release with cards from the top male and female golfers of the world.

Collectors could expect to find autographs and material cards as well as a plethora of Rookie Cards as well as one of the coolest dual autograph cards in a while.

This is the second golf set to be announced this year. Leaf is also coming out with a product in March: Metal Golf.

SP Authentic Golf should have – on average – three autographs with at least one rookie in every 20-pack box with four cards in each pack.

Some of the golf collectors could expect to find are Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, Arnold Palmer, Annika Sorenstam, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis and others.

If you look at the pictures, there is one card that has been jumping out to fans: the dual autograph of Michael Jordan and Woods, two of the best athletes of this generation.

Upper Deck hasn’t had a dedicated golf set since 2005 and it seems it is going all out for this product. Along with the autographs and swatches there are variations to many of the hits and inserts. In addition, red-foil parallels will be hard to find dropping at an average of four in every five cases.

Golf collectors haven’t had a trading card set dedicated to their sport since 2005.

That about to change in 2012 as Leaf is readying Leaf Metal Golf — a set that will feature a number of world-class golfers and will be loaded with autographs, all be signed directly on the cards.

While there isn’t a lot of information out yet about the new product, we figured golf fans wants to know there is something to look forward to in the new year.

The few cards Leaf has released shows Jack Nicklaus with two different autograph cards on a number of parallels. These cards add chase elements in trying to complete the rainbow and also should appeal to general sports fans. After all, it’s Jack Nicklaus.

Upper Deck had the last golf-only product in 2005 — so, it’s been six long years.
