Hooked on Trout: Angels farmhand receives Topps/J.G. Taylor Spinks Award

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim prospect Mike Trout received the 51st annual Topps/J.G. Taylor Spinks Award for the top Minor League Player of the Year on Wednesday.
Trout, 19, is the youngest player to win the award.
The Millville, N.J., native hit .341 between Class-A Cedar Rapids and high Class-A Rancho Cucamonga with 10 homers, 56 stolen bases 106 runs in 131 games.
The Angels picked Trout in the first round (26th overall) in 2009.
His talent and baseball instincts made him an instant hit with collectors. He doesn’t have a Rookie Card yet because Trout hasn’t been in a Major League Baseball game yet, but with the way he’s playing Trout could be up with the Angels by next year.
Have no fear, though. Trout does have 86 cards available including 49 autographs.
Trout’s most desirable card is his 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft Prospect auto. The gold refractor’s high-value goes for $400. Basic 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft autos can be had for around $50.
