First look: 2015 Topps Opening Day baseball cards
By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor
Opening Day comes early for baseball fans ripping into 2015 Topps Opening Day baseball cards.
It arrives on March 18.
Each 36-pack box of the product will include a selection of cards from the 200-card base set with 75 of those being players who won’t arrive until Series 2 in the Topps flagship baseball set. Each of the base cards will have an Opening Day parallel limited to only 2,015 copies, 1/1 printing plates and — new this year — a 1/1 Opening Day Edition parallel, too.
The insert card lineup will fall where there’s a card in every pack with four of the seven insert sets being new creations. Superstar Celebrations (25 cards), Mascots (25 cards) and Opening Day Stars will return with newbies including Hit the Dirt (15 cards showcasing super sliders), Franchise Flashback (20 throwback-uniformed players). Team Spirit (10 cards) and the Instagram-fueled #ToppsLive set showcasing 20 photos taken by fans.
Like last year, there are once again Relic cards for 10 stars as well as autographs for 10 players and even autographs for five MLB mascots.
A preliminary checklist was not released.

Always like Opening Day product….fun little set to collect with my kids plus the insert sets are usually really nice. Design looks great…..
I love the inserts in this set – the 3-D Opening Day Stars is the one set of any kind I think I’ve looked forward to more than any other for the past few years. I always look to buy a complete set of those. I just wish Topps would make the base set something other than a parallel of the regular Topps set (if not change the design, at least use different photos or something). As someone who buys the regular set every year, I’m not really interested in an abbreviated parallel of that. But I do love the inserts, and the Franchise Flashbacks also look really cool this year.
