A destructive hurricane swept through the Northeast this week, flooding out houses and leaving millions without power.

The Topps Company has been one of those entities affected in the aftermath of the superstorm Sandy.

The main Topps offices are located at 1 Whitehall Street, just steps from the southern tip of Manhattan and the South Ferry Terminal – some of the hardest hit areas of the borough.

American tennis great Pete Sampras has joined a list of tennis stars offering event-used memorabilia.

Sampras signed on with The MeiGray Group, a New Jersey-based authentication company, to be included in the company’s United States Tennis Association Match-Used Authentication Program, the company announced.

When this year’s editions of Press Pass Legends arrives on Oct. 18, it will be packing legends from the past and a few potential stars of the future.

And it will be packing their autographs — often with a bit more — as in inscriptions to go along with their autographs inside 2012 Press Pass Legends Hall of Fame Edition.

From hot rookie Robert Griffin III to golf legend Jack Nicklaus, there will be plenty of variety in this one — and more than a few interesting things jotted along with their signatures.

Beckett Grading Services will host James Spence Authentication for on-site autograph authentication at Beckett Media headquarters on Saturday (Sept. 22) for collectors who are interested in professional grading or need items examined and/or slabbed.

The event is, of course, open to the public and begins at 11 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. at the Beckett Media headquarters in Dallas, Texas.

It’s located at 4635 McEwen Road just off of Interstate 635.

Among the services available will be the recently added baseball encapsulation, card grading and encapsulation of JSA-approved items.
