Join Beckett Baseball‘s Brian Fleischer and Chris Olds as they rip into a pair of 2012 Topps baseball boxes in this latest edition of Box Busters.
What will they find inside? How can you win a hobby box? Watch & find out …
Topps shows again why they are the Best!!
Great video! Im hoping to get my hands on more of those product. I love the 87 minis!
Love the Topps cards! I always try to buy a box every year, but haven’t gotten around to it.
Love the video. From the looks of it, 2012 Topps is one of the nicest flagship sets in the last few years.
FYI: We’ll probably pick a winner on Friday, Feb. 10.
Totally stoked on the new series 1 TOPPS! picked it up a day early thanks to Mr. Olds “ripping retail.” I’m digging the Classic Walkoffs inserts. But I am a little baffled how they compare Don Mattingly and Eric Hosmer in theirminserts titled Timeless Talents? Overall, enjoy the small oval name plate on front. But not too stoked on the errors on the stat board on the back. There is a double mentioning of 3B. Instead should be 2B, 3B. C ‘mon know quality control department at TOPPS!
Love the video. Just finished sorting my box that I got today had a blast ripping in and always enjoy watching you guys rip boxes to see what you get.
Great break guys, 2012 Topps looks good so far!
I got my hands on my first retail packs (Rippin’ Retail son!) this afternoon and they look great! I could however,,,care less about a Rally Squirrel card. I’m all about the RC’s!!
Crisp, Clean….Gold no Diamonds….87 mini’s…whats not to like.
After watching this video and seeing the results of a 60-case break, I had to go out and buy a jumbo box of this. I usually don’t care about the Topps basic sets, but this year, it seems really cool.
I also really appreciate that you guys do these breaks. It’s great to see what the set is like.
Just bought 3 jumbos! Thanks for the video
First time viewer but not last. Love the Ring Relic.
Best looking regular set in awhile. Didn’t think I’d like the 87 Mini’s, but turning out to be a fun find. Are just the hobby packs, and not retail packs eligible for the mail in deal? Anyone know?
Great video guys! email@example.com
Chris and Brian great info and a lot of cards to go through.
I have my hopes on a GOlden redemption or a Golden Ticket.I do like the Blaster Patch cards nice touch .The Sp’s are getting a bit too much for me but I’d like to see the numbered gold cards but overall a good start to 2012. Hey is the squirrel in this years box any different than Polley walnuts odd from 07?
I like the info on the inserts is deatiled a good job there.
What would be cool is to put jerseys on the 87 insert or redemp’s for auto’s.
great job -Tom
Great video… Agree with the love of the minis…
Great video! I really liked 2011 Topps and I’m starting to like 2012 Topps, as well. The SP cards are very cool. It’s nice to see the players goofing around and having fun. I’d love to get my hands on a squirrel card and have Beckett Grading encase it for me. I’d probably mount it on my wall…haha! Thanks for the contest!
@Tom O Brien. Only hobby boxes and HTA jumbo boxes are available for wrapper redemption. I believe, from what I have seen is that TOPPS has madenthe wrappers a different shade of blue for the redeemable wrappers. Mind you Tommy boy, I’m not the professional though. Only my personal observations. I bought multiple blaster boxes. Worth, nada!
Long Beach, Ca.
Love the photos this year can’t wait to get a squirrel card. GO CARDS!
Great Video I like the new stuff!
Great video as always (seen them all), 87 minis look great. Hit me up at firstname.lastname@example.org
You know, I thought the ’75 minis looked sharp (from Lineage, I think), but I’ve got a soft spot for those ’87s… Keep up the good work, guys.
topps is the best all around company ever.upper deck sucks worse than a new york mets bullpen.
Please, please, please pick me to get the free box. My 2012 baseball card season needs something like this to get back on track. Because on the day the hobby products were released I was supposed to be selling a game system for $100 and getting myself a hobby box (keep in mind that I have never been able to afford a hobby box before, so I was really excited about it). I was going to get the money and then go to my closest hobby store and get my first box. But about ten miniutes before I was going to leave the lady told me she wasn’t going to buy it. I was devistated. I was looking forward to that forever. I need something to pick me up for 2012. Please let me have it.
Great vid I love Chris’s commentary during the box breaks!
As always you guys do a great job. But I really want to comment on the cards. Looks like topped stepped up there game. Love all the gold, and the ripken ring is sweet. Also liked the name and number patches. Would love to get one for the “babe”.
Hunting for squirrels is the new hunting for harpers. Nice vid, keep up the good work
Looks like a great start to the card collecting year. Now just got to sneak out from wife to buy some.
Great product affordable Price, lots of bells and whistles,Great job Topps!
I didn’t think you were going to make it through the intro withouth ripping those boxes open, kids in a candy store lol. Sweet freese and ripken guys!
When will the complete set be available ?
I like the photography. The inserts seem to be plain and do not look very collectible. I do like the 1987 mini alot!!!
Enjoyed the video. Waiting for my box to arrive tomorrow, can’t wait to see those ’87 minis
Wow they look way better than I thought they would. Love the 87 mini’s.
2012 Topps baseball, great stuff. I bought 3 Hobby boxes yesterday pulled some short prints, 2 jerseys, 1 silk. Nice ring pull.
Almost got the set together, but going to risk doubles overload for more 87 minis!
Very nice Freese, and I love those 87 minis! Great video guys, it was………..gold.
2012 Topps Series 1 does not disappoint. I love the ring and pin cards. Also the 1987 Topps Minis are good. Thanks for the video and contest!
Base Set looks great! hoping to buy a hobby box pretty soon! great video!
I think Chris’s Excited face would have been more excited if swisher was on the cover of topps 2012 hah :P
Great video as usual!! You guy have way too much fun, i’d love to sit in on one of your boxbuster videos. email@example.com
Awesome Ripken ring card.
Great video. Loved watching them while I was deployed to Qatar last yaer. Keep up the grat job,
Awesome video, always fun to watch. Thanks guys. firstname.lastname@example.org
Great video guys. I’m into my second jumbo box already, and I have to say that I’m most impressed with the photography this year. Many of the images, whether “in action” or “in the moment,” are different than usual. I also like the 87 minis…seems to be more duplicates than normal though. In any event, I’m liking the GOLD and enjoying your comments. Keep it up.
I watch all of the box buster vids because they are really informative. Chris’ ripping retail set this break up real nice. Nice cards and great photos. Would love to have the Ripken ring card. I am superised that it was numbered so high though. Keep up the good work with the box busters.
Great video, cant wait to get buy a box, if I win Chris I will send you all my minis
Great video guys! You rock. \,,/(-.-)\,,/
Great break, tough to make a video with a base product… But the editing gave us all we needed to see the product and contents, et. Thanks!
Great video. Looking forward to opening 4 jumbos and 2 regular boxes tomorrow.
that cal ripken ring is sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
very cool cards! Love that ripken ring!
For the record, you guys for sure have my dream job! I’m sure its not all glitter and glamour so my hat’s off to you as well. I truly look forward to Beckett.com at the end of my day. Down to the matter at hand. Although the design looks great this year I have to say I am with you guys on the 1987 Mini’s! I can’t believe that set can still be bought for so little. I realize it was over produced, but being an old-school kinda guy…who cares! It’s an awesome design before the days we had to be lured with autographs, short prints, and parallels! I’m going in if for no other reason those! Again, just an old school kinda guy!
From mod: Winner via random selection.
As a 63 year old baseball fanatic, and still collecting sportcards, there has never been a baseball card like Topps. The 2011 Topps Diamond set is hard to beat! Looking forward to start breaking open boxes!
that cal ripken jr ring card is sweet!!!!
Thank you for the video. Your videos are always very informative. I like the ’87 minis, but there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for them, other than 25 year anniversary (Yikes! that was the year I graduated from high school). Still, I don’t get them getting the mini treatment.
Nice video, looks like the the flagship will again be a fun and affordable rip. Also looking forward to some Harper action later in the year. Just wish the Golden Future autos were more plentiful, super nice but almost impossible to hit.
Nice box break guys–love this product so far. Would be thrilled to win the box you mentioned and do my own “box Break”
I was wondering why there were so many comments on this box buster. I know I love to preview what I might buy. Definitely will get a couple of boxes.
Hi Went out and bought a box yesterday, because heard there was wrapper redemption only up till 2-29-12.
Trying to make the box last (until I get the paypal in) Opened 6 Packs and now doing 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening.
When is the Friday Contest coming back? You had it one day and said it was back…then nothing again!!
Love the box busters vids as always. I’m liking the ring and pin cards this year, it’s a nice change from the standard white or grey relics. I really agree on liking the smaller amount of parallels, it was getting a bit out of hand.
Thanks for the wrapper advice. Dug through my trash for about 5 minutes. The inserts in a pack of 2012 TOPPS are just as mysterious as the slime that came up with the wrappers. I’ll definitely be going for the mini set. Great vid as usual.
This years set is waaaay better for numberous reasons. I have to agree with the masses here that the 87 minis are the feelgood pick of the year. I mean come on, 1987 cards are so awesome. Thats was my first real set i collected when i was a kid and to see them back in action, epic. by the way, nice addage of the yellow B “frisby” looking center piece.
I don’t remember seeing so many comments about any card product. You must be giving something away. I hope it’s 2012 Topps!
Loved the video! You guys make it short and sweet! Thanks! email@example.com
Thanks for the box break. Looking forward to getting some packs!
Great Video Guys!! Box Busters is the best. I was so excited for the release of these cards because of the World Series Cardinals cards.
I really like this set my thoughts are that it is probably the cleanest base sets of topps I have ever seen over the last 10 years. I got a question though; Why are there 2 different cards of Dee Gordon? can some one help me with that??
I like the 2012 Topps so far but in my hobby box I noticed 3 of my 6 Gold Futures had some rough edges on the bottom of them. They seem to be the only cards affected, guessing something to do with the card stock being a little softer and thinner than the other inserts. Kinda sucks that a pack fresh card is already slightly dinged but other than that I’m happy with what I’ve pulled so far.
Keep up the box break videos!
Have had tons of fun busting into this set so far already… got an couple decent hits so far! Just means I can buy more this weekend at the hobby shop! Good times!
Love your videos. You guys are always the first to bust the new boxes. Would love to get that free box to bust with my daughter. Good luck guys on your next box !!
Thanks for showing a video, reviewing. The Ring card looks beautiful!
LOVE the break guys! Love the inserts and Im glad that there are little to no parallels in the product. Got a Gehrig ring yesterday so that Ripken ring is pretty sweet! Keep up the good work guys! Here’s to another great year of collecting!
Its always fun watching you guys rip into some boxes. Great job on this video. Hobby boxes always get the best pulls.
I love the video guys. I will grab a box or seven now. I think i’m gonna try and put the ring set together.
Glad to see something different–love that ring manu. Thanks for the contest.
I just had surgery on my knee and can’t wait to get my topps fix and open a hobby box. My wife has tried to go and find some of the 2012 boxes and she has had no success! All we have is a Target and still nothing. If I was off of my crutches I would drive 40 miles away to get a hobby box! Love your guys videos! Keep them coming, all I can watch for about 4 weeks of reconstruction surgery! Oh.. By the way, had surgery in the same facility as buster posey, in Stanford. Well, actually Redwood city! Thanks guys, Chris J.
the 2012 season has kicked off and what a great set! love thw way topps has stepped up to the plate
Love the break. Great product.
I like not having 50 parallels this year. Might have to go get a box.
Nice video. Got to break a few jumbo boxes today. Got the illustrious rally squirrel and a valverde inside the numbers 1/1 patch so did pretty well
And the rings and pins look amazing. Love the inclusion of them. Brings some of the old into the new
Great job as usual Brian and Chris i love these box breaks you guys give a great insight to the product. i can’t wait to get a box. love that Cal Ripken thats awesome!!! Thanks Guys till next time
Hey Brian and Chris the video is awaesome as always. I am liking the this years design and few parallels. Keep up the good work.
Great video- very informative. Brian Fleischer and Chris Olds are very good at their jobs.
Found some neat ones in retail packs, but I want to find a ring or a patch. Loved the 1987 Topps series-can’t wait for the ’87 inserts! Series 2 should be interesting.
I hope I win that free box-
pretty good breaks over all fellas but i do belive that the cal ripken jr. relic was the best pull. The topps 2012 inserts are awesome. here’s to another great year of topps.
2012 Topps are SWEET!!! I’ve also got a Ripken ring card & a Golden Moments Autograph of Alexi Ogando redemption card. These came out of a Jumbo box. I can’t wait to do some more ripping!!!
What a great product this year, I pulled a Johnny Bench World Series Pin in my 1st box of the year.
those ring cards are sweet. i hope i can pull one outta the box that i win from you guys
Great job w/ the baseball Box Busters as usual. Topps Series 1 looks great this year. Love seeing the ’87 card designs, though I wish they weren’t minis.
The Retired Ring cards are kind of cool. Too bad you can’t take it off and wear it.
Great video! Really like the look for Topps this year. And those ring cards are nice…I pulled a Mantle ring in my first box of the year.
great boxes…running out for a jumbo box now!
2012 Topps seems to be what Topps has always been: a fun break geared towards the collector, not the person trying to flip the cards for monetary gain. And that is a good thing. If you pick me as a winner I’d like you to take the box to a local hospital and pass the packs out to some of the kids stuck in there. Or if a staff member at Beckett has a child in school where they still do “show and tell” then have them take it in and share the packs with their classmates. We need kids to put down their video game controllers and cellphones and re-discover the simple pleasure of ripping a pack of cards. Thanks guys.
Awesome break.. Love it!!!
Informative video as always! Watching you guys open boxes and seeing what you pull is actually pretty exciting. Perhaps I’ll have to give Topps 2012 a shot today because I like how the product looks, and well, because today is my birthday! :-)
awesome break, love the minis. The ripken ring was so sick
I have watched alot of your box busters. I really like the info you guys give and the playful banter between Chris and Brian. That ripken ring would be a very nice hit. However its numbered so high. These days unless cards are numbered to 50 or 25 no one really cares. I like the base design and the sp’s are what will drive this release. That and the golden ticket somebody can pull. I have opened to 8 Hobby packs and two Jumbo packs and so far have gotten one redemption auto for Alexi Ogando, and also 2 prime 9 card #4 and #6.
Both of those boxes killed the hobby box I busted today. Matt Laporta “Trade pays dividends” golden moments mem card stuck to the card in front of it. I don’t think any part of that qualifies as a golden moment. However, I too love the 87 minis set. Maybe if they make Archives a recurring set we could see ’em again sooner than 2036?
Another great video, as usual. You guys always keep it interesting and give great reviews and a great breakdown of the product. I enjoy Chris’ humor and Brian’s seemingly begrudging acceptance of said humor.
I like the design of Topps 2012, and two of my three favorite players (Kemp, Kershaw) have autographs and/or relics in it, so I get to chase three great hits.
A fun video with some great looking cards. Another year, another fine set of Topps. Looking forward to getting my Jumbo box within the next couple of days.
Fun break guys!! I’m hittin’ up my local hobby shop tomorrow!!!
Unfortunately, I’m recently unemployed, so I’ll only be opening this stuff sparingly this year. I have to say that I think some of the designs are going to look better in person than they do in video or photos (I hope), because some of them just weren’t doing it for me. The insert sets, specifically, are kind of abstract-looking, especially the “Gold Standard” with that oddly placed gold foil coin thing. I do like the Golden Futures card design, along with the gold base set parallels. And you guys were right – those minis will be fun to get signed! As far as the base set design, I like 2011’s design better than 2012. The oval with the player’s name inside it detracts from the photo. Last year was much less intrusive in my opinion. Still, I know I’ll eventually find myself collecting the set, and I hope that I can (A) find a job to be able to buy a few packs, and (B) maybe win a box in your contest. Thanks for the video! Nice to see what all’s in this year’s stuff.
Nice break, Topps has always been a favorite of mine, I can always find a pack or two at my local Target, when the money is a little tight. The Ripken was a nice pull. Better photography and a better auto checklist i think this year. Thanks, see you on you next Break.
nice nice kimbo slice, let me win hobby box please
Nice cards Topps!! I love the ’87 minis. I want the Austin Jackson game used.
The base design was nice and the minis were amazing. Why did they stop numbering the gold parallels?;I liked them numbered.I am a huge Cal fan so I loved the ring card.So the boxes were pretty cool.
Awesome video, you guys are fun! “THE PAIN”. A lot of good info, thank you. Nice pics
epic find! cant wait to go pick ip a few mote packs next payday!! i love the fact this year is based on gold lets just hope next year its not plutonium!
Some of the best looking topps insert cards in years!
I love the ’87 mini’s. They were the first packs I remember breaking into. You all need to work on the lighting in your videos.
12′ is off to a great start…87 mini’s are real nice!
Went to the hobby shop and had the owner break out the boxes…… great looking cards…… had a few rookies…. and some great golden cards
I think a Babe Ruth ring card would only be better than a Cal Ripkin Jr
Really enjoyed the break. The Mini’s will be fun to collect. Keep up the good work guys.
I have not decided yet if 2012 is game changing after opening two jumbo boxes, but I do like the ring cards. Video was great as always. Also Chad Billingsly sign your cards so I can get my redemtion back…. Thanks Beckett
Nice brand new product.
enjoyed the video…topps always has the best product ..i have collected topps for over 30 years now
have been on haitus with my card collecting due to the slow down in the economy. all this video does is get my juices flowing and prompts me to start putting some nickels and dimes away. i dont believe you ever mentioned a price?!?! are they more than 60 bucks a box??
thanks and keep up the great work!!
I enjoyed watching you guys open those packs. It was like having Christmas 10 months earlier. I decided to order a hobby box hoping for the thrill of pulling out a Rally Squirrel. By the way, I do not bust packs or boxes. I merely open them. If my mother found out I was a pack buster, it would break her heart.
Hopefully Topps will continue to bring out great products for the rest of the season.
Nice cards, you guys are the best…sure would be nice to win something..Thanks
The rings are definitely a cool mix up for a change. Thanks for sharing the break, this looks like a very cool set!
This year’s set is awesome! The actual cards are a ton better than the mocks. I don’t like that you can’t get vintage cards in golden giveaway but hopefully it won’t have breakdowns like diamond giveaway did. I actually went to the Walmart in the next town over and checked if they’d have topps. I thought there was no chance but they were there! This year is shaping up to be better than expected and I’m excited about the Reds’ run to the WS! Awesome video, I think box busters is the best thing about Beckett.com.
In my opinion one of the best, if not the best, Topps base products in years. Thanks for sharing your pulls!
I’ve been a subscriber and an avid fan of your videos on Y–Tube..!
I believe, Chris, you were the first to post a vid on the new 2012 Topps set.. I had no idea it was going to be released until I saw it.. Thanks..!
And nice Ripken ring, Brian..!
Btw, my prediction: Phils will be champs in 2012!
I love watching box breaks! Makes me want to open some packs. Speaking of which, I opened a ton of 2011 Topps and eventually won one of the “diamond” rings on the Diamond Dig website. My best “hit” ever!!!
Have to say I am excited about this years set (especially love the topp mini’s)…Can’t wait to get box and break myself. Lastly, thanks for the video guys.
The ring cards rock.
I’ve just starting watching these box break videos, and I’m highly impressed with all the info and facts from your videos. Also really enjoy the personal touches that Chris and Brian bring to the job of opening the packs. I believe the ring card is awesome(Ripken fan) and agree the mini’s would look great with an on-card auto.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos;
Great video. Thanks for showing these cards off.
Great video guys! Loved the review. Can’t wait to get the Reds cards from this years Topps flagship.
I’ve been a subscriber and an avid fan of your videos on the Tube..!
I believe, Chris, you were the first to post a vid on the new 2012 Topps set.. I had no idea it was going to be released until I saw it.. Thanks..!
And nice Ripken ring, Brian..!
Great video and love the product. Can’t wait to put the set together!
Awsome video! firstname.lastname@example.org
love watching you guys do breaks dont think i have missed any of the baseball ones
Enjoy the videos… there’s really nothing quite like ripping into the first cards of the year!
Nice break guys. Love the Ripken ring!
No matter what StaleGum thinks… Gimmicks or no gimmicks… Topps baseball cards rule… they have been and will always be the love (and my g/f ;) of my life! Soccer stinks! lol
Great video and thanks for the contest!
Love watching you guys busting open a great product
A masterpiece! Mr. Olds set the tone at the onset with “game face” that was one part sublime psychosis, two parts Christmas morning wonderment, and and 3 parts unadulterated baseball card pack-break-junkie anticipation! ‘Twas all I hoped for and more! Topps!
Fun Break! I LOVE the Retired Ring idea this year. Very creative. Also, the inserts this year will be a blast to collect. Reminds me of 1990’s! Great job Topps.
Great box break guys! I like this year’s set much more than last year’s and will be collecting the 1987 Mini’s. Thanks for the contest!!!
Great video and break. Love the Ripken ring, but my fav part was Brain’s excitement over the Kinsler Mini.
oops.. that second comment was posted ’cause i thought that writing “Y–Tube” would be a no-no by the moderator.. my mistake..!
Cool Ripken ring card. Get me my own box! email@example.com
Love the Rangers hat and all of the information about 2012 Topps.
Always great to see the new stuff! Better photos than last year.
Great Video guys. I really enjoy the Topps product.
Great Video! I’m just getting back into card collecting and you video got me even more excited. And he 87 mini’s bring back such great collecting memories!
Nice break. I love watching you guys rip into some packs. Busted a couple of packs the day they were released. One of the better looking Topps sets in recent years. Looking forward to busting some more. Thanks for all the box busters videos you do, I try to watch them all. Keep rippin’.
I don’t get much interaction with others in the hobby where I live so it’s great to see the new cards and hear what you guys think of them. Like the ring cards!
Always love Topps Product especially this year with the desigh and new concept. Like Chris said, let see it topps can used the retro 87 topps for signatures cards. The Cal Ripken ring card looks sweet. Thanks for the video.
I almost bought some last night. The cards look really nice, I just want to finish my 2011 master set before buying the 2012 cards. I may try for a blue and red parallel set from Target and Walmart as I really like the look of those.
Video was good. I dont understand the fascination with the ’87 minis. I started collecting in 87 and have seen that wood border too many times to count. I have boxes of the stuff. Literally like moving boxes full of it. I think it is too soon for it but everything else looks nice. I really like the look of the classic walkoff inserts.
Thanks for keeping us entertained with the pulls.
Great looking product. Fun watching you guys rip. Hope I win this contest and get a chance to do some myself.
The ring cards are pretty cool.
Great vid as usual! I love watching box breaks of new products before I consider purchasing anything! NIIICCCCEE Ripken! Boy that thing is THICK!
2012 looks pretty good. Those ring cards are different. Thanks for showing us the product!
Nice video. Waiting for my hobby box that got lost under the snow, I’ve already secured a gold standard complete set on ebay and 50 wrappers for the gold rush redemption. Would be nice to add Beckett’ s box.
WOW!!! Nuff said.
Great Video guys. I really enjoy the Topps product this year.
topps throws us another winner! The minis are much better than last season, as well as the inserts! I hope to pull a jose reyes SP some time
Great Video, my email is firstname.lastname@example.org
Love the way Chris Olds opens packs. Those 87 minis are nice.
In in this one!
Viewers feel free to email me, I trade.
Topps does it again. I love the 87 minis!
Yet another great product from Topps!
A great looking Topps set. Love the ’87 minis, and the ring relic of Ripken was very cool looking.
Great vid guys. My only suggestion/request would be to maybe review all of the different inserts individually at the beginning or at the end and let us know what the odds are, collectability, and your personal opinion is of each one.
Thanks again for a great vid. Gonna go break a box tomorrow.
P.S. NOT a fan of the 87 mini. The 75 mini has much more appeal.
Nice vid. I realize including the gold parallels would have been overkill…but I kinda miss them!
Haven’t opened Topps baseball in years. Loved the video and am inspired to go out and buy some packs. Base cards look great and love the inserts especially the 87 mini’s. Used to buy basketball but with Jordan long retired and only Panini now, no interest.
Do you think that the ’87 mini parallel set will peak interest in the original ’87 set? It’s disappointing to see how those classic sets from the mid-late 80s – early 90s have suffered value-wise!
P.S. – also glad to see that the subsets will be scaled back this year!
I agree oN the mini 87’s I even like the color combos of the subsets. the base cards have good photos. And Really like the Ring and pin cards good names not allot of borderline players.
I love the rings now the Atlanta Braves better win a worlde series so i can get one of craig kimbrel or freddie freeman would look great for my pc I can only hope thanks for the contest
The Ripken card and minis looked great. Not a huge fan of all the golden this, that, and the other.
2012 so far is awesome.
Love how there are not as many inserts as last year.
The retored Rings are vert THICK!
awesome video email is: Cgumieny@comcast.net
You guys need to do something with your camera. Picture’s dark and unclear.
I like the base design a lot more than last year. Don’t like manufactured relics counting as hits much less taking up an entire pack. Is there any relevance for the 1987 design minis in a 2012 product? The actual 1987 minis didn’t even use the regular 1987 design other than the wood border.
I was wondering why the minis would be 87 Topps design, until I opened a pack and saw one. Super sharp, they look great. Hopefully they never get down to 90 Topps minis, THAT I could do without. Breaks like these always make me wish even more that there was a decent hobby shop out here (in BF Virginia), but I can make a drive for this.
So far only ripped retail, bunch of blasters and loosies. Nothing incredibly crazy, but tons of Golden Giveaway cards, which I need Topps to allow me to plug in! Also, an Aaron (on Ebay!) and Ryan stitched name patch, Clemente (also Ebay!) and Rice Retired Number patches! Those are nice, looking for Yankees, though!
Thanks for the break guys! Lets me know what I may drive an hour plus to scoop up, retail gets a little boring sometimes!
Thxs 4 a great box break. I like the cal ring. Pick me!!
The 1987 mini cardboards bring back a lot of memories, love it!
Top notch video as always, easily one of the ten best products Topps will put out this year.
Like the video, looking forward to getting some of the 2012 Topps and the ’87 minis.
I think the rings and pins are cool, but they shouldn’t count as your relic. They should be an extra hit IMO.
Loving the 2012 products so far, good stuff
Count me in the draw – email@example.com
Loving the minis ’87 Topps Mini Inserts and the RING cards .
You guys have fun doing the breaks and I love seeing the hits. keep them coming.
great video! MikeyEsq@gmail.com
When will golden giveaway site be up?
Set looks Great!!! Enojyed the mini 87s and ring “relic”.
The manufactured relics this year blow away the ‘real’ relics. I’m sure most collectors would rather have a pin/ring of a HOFer or a bona fide star instead of third-tier guys like Austin Jackson.
This set is pretty good looking. Not a huge fan of the minis but the inserts and base cards look really nice
I bought 2 boxes and got a Joe Morgan ring card, a David Freese memorabilia card, a David Robertson printing plate and a Dustin Pedroia memorabilia card. Great hits for first 2 boxes. Great video guys. I could always use another box.lol.
Too many Cardinals cards – otherwise a great looking set!
Enjoyed the video.
great video, i got to open a box yesterday and pulled a freddie freeman short print and a robinson cano mem card, i would love to be able to open another box to add to my growing collection!
2012 Topps looks pretty good. I agree that the 1987 Topps minis are pretty cool. I hope to get some of the ring cards. Good video. Looks like fun to bust.
Was wondering why so many comments until I watched the video. I’m glad to see a contest on here again. Can’t wait to get my boxes, if Uncle Sam pays me back on time!
Awesome cards! I like the look of the 2012 set so far, can’t wait to open some myself!
Probably grab a box or two just to make a complete base set, but I will definitely be making a set of those ’87 minis strictly because that was when I first started collecting.
Well what a year 2012 is going to be!!!
1. Rangers have Yu Darvish.
2. Nick Swisher is still a Yankee (which means he is sure to have cards).
3. My favorite player Don Mattingly is in the 2012 set.
4. My favorite older set design of all time (1987 Topps) is a mini insert set of all things in 2012 Topps.
5. And I just found out I am having my first child!!!
The best thing about this and all your videos is you take the time to explain the sets, explain the pricing and when you really like or dislike something you say in a polite but clear manner. I know everyone who makes a comment wants a box and I am no different. I cannot buy any hobby this year since I have to be responsible now that I am going to be a dad so nothing would be cooler to win this hobby box, put those cards away as the first ones I give my son or daughter to introduce them to card collecting. In my case you never know who might want that 1987 Ian Kinsler mini or Adam Dunn salute to one of his 11 home runs as their first card! Thanks and good luck to everyone!!!
I believe this video had quite the volume of awesomeness. Put Brian Fleischer and Chris Olds together along with the latest Topps baseball release and what have you got? Pure gold!!!!
I really enjoy your videos. I try to watch them before I go and buy any product to give me an idea of what to expect. So happy 2012 Topps has arrived.
Looks like a good set. I prefer last years Kimball Champions minis to this year’s 87 minis. Do love the Gold parallels, nice continuation of last year’s Diamond parallel. Can’t wait to get my hands on some.
I really like this years Topps. I especially like the design of the base set and the gold inserts. I don’t like the weight difference of the ring and coin cards. It makes it easy to search packs. I opened two jumbo boxes and got a Frank Robinson ring card. This pack was noticeably heavier than the other packs.
sell me the 2 Matt Moore rc
Informative video, I like the ring and coin cards. You guys know what you are talking about
looks like a nice product! firstname.lastname@example.org
Great video – congrats to Brian for his Ripken pull.
I like the 1987 mini insert set, too, but woulda liked it more if they were normal sized rather than mini’s.
Also, I am glad to see a reduction in the amount of parallels, but wish they would have kept the serial numbering for the Gold’s.
Absolutely awesome they get better every year.
wow alot of people want some free cards def the best looking set in awhile.
Went out and purchased a couple blaster boxes of Topps 2012 for my bithday yesterday. Very nice product, but, I noticed a glaring error with a majority of the cards I pulled. Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but, a majority of the cards I pulled had “3B” in place of “2B” (for doubles) in the stats section on the back. Hence, there are two “3B” labeled columns and no “2B”. Fairly minor — just something interesting to note for collectors who are interested in printed error cards.
I love the box break! Topps reveals a great opening product, classic design with the ’87 mini, and I look forward to getting a box soon. Thanks for the video and keep on breakin’. Love the Ripkin ring, sweet!
How could you get a Ryan Braun mini? After the steroids, there isn’t anything mini about him…okay, bad joke, but I could not resist.
Great score on the Ripken ring and great video!!
i love those minis
Nice video – I really like the new set. The chicks have The View and we have Chris and Brian. Nice job guys!
Topps looks awesome this year! I agree that less parallels is better. The golds are very nice & clean. Also, I absolutely love the Retired Rings cards! Great break, thanks!
Definitely liking the gold theme this year! I like the fact that they continued the short print runs again. Not fond of the number of inserts but each one is designed nicely. Would love to get my hands on a ring or coin card. They look so sharp!
The product is quite dissapointing. The 2B , 3B error on all the vertical picture card backs is unexcusable. And Franklin Gutierez card back is wrong to. It appears Topps has farmed out production to China for all product and it shows. I was out of the Hobby for 10 years and got back in after I heard Topps had exclusive rights but I think MLB should grant more rights as that seems to keep a good competitive balance and better product. Until then I am gone again.
As always, the first product I look forward to ‘cracking’. Looks like another fun year!!
YAY! NO reprints (and parallels of them) and much less base parallels!
I might actually buy a box of these. The cards look real good (as did last years’), but the fact that there is less variation of base/inserts helps a lot. It’s about time Topps stopped with the overkill of inserts and parallels. I generally don’t like mini’s, but with the ’87 design they have a great throwback design/quality to them. That was one of my fav. sets when I was a kid.
I usually stay away from the main Topps set, but this looked like a fun break. I also like that there aren’t ANY prospects, only true RC’s. That was what kept me from buying MLB cards the past couple of years (too much focus on the prospects).
Awesome video….the ring card was cool….so far I love 2012 series 1….I have quite a few of the originals of the ’87 minis….loads of info!!!!!
Looks like a fun break. Those minis bring back memories. I remember trading a legit card to a friend in my 3rd grade class for an ’87 Topps Kent Hrbek. What did he give me? A picture of the Hrbek card front cut from some kind of album, glued to a piece of cardboard. And I took it. Unbelievable! That’s the card I remember most from that set. Thanks for the video. Keep them coming.
I like the look of the cards this year, but not the names. I can’t keep all the names of the inserts straight, and they are just too generic sounding- golden “moments”, “standard”, “greats”. But I’m sure gonna have fun collecting this set!
Weight shouldn’t give away ring/pin cards. There’s actually about 3 fewer cards in these packs making them roughly weigh alike. I’d love to win myself a box of these cards!
Love trying to build the set every year! It’s great knowing that baseball season’s right around the corner when the product comes out!
Great video preview of product. Looks good
I buy a box every year and Im looking forward to this years box for a chance at one of those retired rings inserts.
As always, I’ll build the set; thanks for the bust video. Especially “Crazy Face” Olds.
the new topps looks great. i too love the 87 mini’s. the short prints must really be hard to get as ive watched both video’s that featured the new topps and only one short print card was pulled. that ripken ring card was an awesome pull. ive seen the ring cards online and was amazed at how sweet they looked. its great that you guys open packs/boxes on becket.com. it reminds me of when me and my friends would go out and spend our allowances on cards, then rush back home to see who had the better packs/pulls. ive already bought 2 retail boxes of the new topps and cant wait to get my hands on the hobby boxes. topps has always been my favorite brand since i was 6 years old. from the subsets to the short prints, this product really does have it all. thanks for allowing me to comment on this.
i really enjoy the box busters. lets me see the cards that i cant buy anymore, and sometimes gives me the nudge to go out and find some to buy. brings back lots of great memories from my childhood
FOR A FIRST TIME WATCHER AND NEW TO THE HOBBY I THOUGHT IT WAS FANTASTIC INFORMATION.KEEP UP THE GOOD INFORMATION,AND I AM HOOKED. THANKS AGAIN.
Awsome cards! Great video!
Not much of a baseball collector, but I like the 87′ minis since that was the first set I ever completed as a kid! This box break video was by far one of the most entertaining. Im was happy the guy, who mumbles and looks mad for being there, wasn’t doing this one! Like I said, Im not much of a baseball collector, but I loved watching the whole video since they kept it informative and fun. Of course, Chris always does a great job keeping us informed. Thanks for one of the best box breaks from beckett I’ve seen. Now lets get ready to do some basketball!!
I can’t say i will not buy a box or two of the new topps 2012, but i will not be buying as much as i thought i might. Every year for the last few years the topps base cards come out, the price sky rockets and then every single card value drops. Why is it that the first series of topps comes out they are the lest valued card that topps comes out with. The signatures are impossible to get without buying a ton of boxes and when you do get one they are no bodies. But i do like the amount of inserts, opening packs are always fun. never really know what you are going to get. Its the cheapest set of card that can be bought. Add a better quality card set to the series 2 and i can almost bet you that you would double the profit of the base series Topps cards without having to jack the price up. but what do i know i just buy your products. Thank you for your time and good luck everyone with series One 2012 topps.
Great Box, Great Inserts.. once again, great product
nice video, informative video. just ordered 2 reg boxes and 2 jumbo boxes, can’t wait to get them.
Great video as always and excited to look for those Golden themed cards. Keep it up boys!
I cant wait to get my hands on the 2012 topps series 1 !!! Although my wife says no to buying a box at the hobby shop! Appently we dont have money to waste on cardboard pictures of baseball players
Like all the cards, and you cant go wrong with quanity and a touch of quality. Will get for the right price and if all the products this year look like this its going to be a good year.
I like the looks of the cards and the 1987 Topps Mini Parallel cards… I may have to get a box or two.
i love the video i like the topps brand
Great video! Love the ring card. Even in Canada, we can appreciate Ripken! Lets hope Brett Lawrie is in the RC’s.
I have always loved the Topps cards! Also love the box busters videos! Keep it up guys!
Awesome Mini’s I love these cards!
So far I am loving the new 2012 Topps. My friend and I each bought a hobby box. I only pulled a ryan zimmerman relic, but my buddy got a Adam Lind auto and a John Danks printing plate.
I just bought a 70 card box of these at Target and found some cool cards like Brandon Belt, Brian Wilson, Derek Jeter, Mickey Mantle, Josh Hamilton and 87 mini Kinsler. I want to buy a hobby box and a jumbo pack box to find more!
Too bad Topps phoned things in this year. The inserts are uninspiring (other than the golden moments replacing last year’s platinum diamond anniversary silver color). 1987 topps minis are okay. the base cards have silver foil (you’d think it’d be gold to keep with the “gold” theme), the last name is hard to read on the front because of the foil on a black bar. I have seen some of the replica rings in person and they look like brass to me despite the fact Topps says they are supposed to be gold in the text on the back. How about spending a few cents to actually gold plate the rings, Topps?
On the plus side, great photography, the name/team/position on the front is minimal so you get to see more of the picture, and the name and card number are nice and clear on the back so it won’t make for fatigue while sorting.
My grade: C- for the 2012 base effort.
Already loving the 2012 Topps!
I get goose bumps just watching you guys! Good stuff, and boy would I like a box!
Loved the video, keep em coming!!!
Thanks for breaking guys. Can’t beat the 87 minis. Let’s go Mets!
The Ripken card is heavy duty, literally. Lots of Gold for sure.
Thanks for sharing the bust, I like to see what I have a chance of getting before a shell the moolah out for a new product.
by the looks of all the comments alot of people think this is gonna be a great year for topps. email@example.com
Topps baseball looks amazing. I look forward to it every year. There are so many entries…I could only afford one pack for now and that might be all I can afford with 4 kids. A box to win would be amazing and make my whole year. Especially a hobby box. Thanks for the contest Beckett and for the video break. Amazing stuff.
Topps is always great. I love the Box Busters videos. Always great to see what’s in a box before you buy one. I’m not a big fan of manufactured relics, but those ring cards are nice.
Another solid edition. Can’t wait to crack open a couple of boxes with my kids.
Tis the season! Great video, always excited for Topps, marks the beginning of Baseball season :)
Nice Box Busters as always, gentleman! Just placed my order for 1 jumbo and 1 hobby box!
Just got back into collecting after a 20+ years hiatus. and my how things have changed.
Thanks for the great videos you guys. They have been an invaluable tool in helping me get back up to speed on things
Thanks for the great reveiw. Picked up a hanger pack and it had seven cards with no names printed on the front… What’s up with that? Otherwise good stuff!
87 minis are very sweet!!!!
Nice box breaks! I really like the manufactured “relics”, although someone is going to have to come up with a way to store them! I also like the fact there are less parallels, keeps me from getting too confused. Thanks for the video guys! By the way, since there are no hobby shops near me here in southern Ohio, I think you should pick me to win the hobby box! All I have to purchase from is Walmart.
Nice looking set. Already have the Mattingly Retired Ring. I collect Donnie.
Nice video and good commentary.
I can’t wait to get my hands on a box. Thanks for the video.
Gentlemen, thanks for the video of the box break of the 2012 Topps Series 1. I have busted a few boxes myself already. It appears Topps continues to do a good job delivering a quality product at a reasonable price (which is huge in today’s financial climate. I must say I like the Cal Ripken ring relic that was pulled. In my jumbo box I received a Reggie Jackson World Series pin from 1978, numbered to 736, as well. Futhermore, I agree that the parallel cards should be kept at a minimum. Lastly, the 1987 Topps inserts are fresh, and will indeed be a true collectors goal to obtain the set of 50. Keep collecting and PLAY BALL!
Love the Freese black! Great pull. Keep the box buster videos coming, I always look forward to watching them.
I’m with you guys – I love the 87 minis
If either of you would like to have an UN-PAID assistant just let me know. Great job that’s more like fun. “It’s not true I had nothing on, I had the radio on.”
My sons and I loved the break. I have to now pull out my old 87’s to show them that those minis were a real set when I first started. They dont believe me lol
Love the base design and the 87 Minis!!
Topps Cards are simply Golden!!!
Wow! Some incredible stuff! The minis look nice. The Sp’s are always fun to chase in this product. This is when the true baseball season starts is when this product is released!
Overall, I must say that one word sums up this product….GOLDEN!
Thanks for the chance to win and the awesome Box Break video!
Greatest time of year…the first glimpse of Spring. Load up the the trucks, it’s time for The St. Louis Cardinals to get going on a repeat…
Looks like a sweet set. those retro mini inserts and that ripken ring looked great.
There’s nothing better than breaking a brand new box as spring training approaches and 2012 will be no different. The first card set that I collected as a kid was that 1987 Topps set. The BJ Surhoff Future Stars card is still one of my favorite cards of all time. I loved last years Kimball minis and to find out that the minis this year are 1987s is absolutely awesome. I also really like the Gold Futures inserts. Very clean, crisp design. Generally, I’m not a fan of manufactured relics but I recently saw a retired rings card that was pulled at my LCS and its very impressive looking.
Topps killing it like it always does. Can’t wait to get a box!
You guys probably have one of the best jobs in the world. I’m jealous. Topps 2012 are nice with the 87 mini’s but I still like last years Lineage 75 mini’s better.
2012 Topps flagship is as flagship should be. None of the insert sets have me madly chasing them but the ’87 minis are, by far, exceeding expectations and will make great TTM cards.
Keep up the great work Busters!!
Lovin’ this product thus far!!!
Gotta love those wood-grain Topps.
great job guys! love the set.
I have not bought any of this product yet but it looks great. I especially love the 1987 Topps mini inserts. They sure do bring back childhood memories of when I first started the hobby. Thanks for the great videos Beckett!!!
This would be an awesome contest to win!
Great video and a great looking set from Topps. I love the 87 minis!
Great video, nice Ripken ring!
The product overall matches if not surpasses last year. Topps did such a great job with their retail program inserting more “hits” into their retail products. So getting retail seems better. but the hobby boxes is where its still at and owning a box of Topps Baseball 2012 would be awesome! The base card design for this years product is nice and clean cut with good photography, the inserts are a plenty and look nice, the autographs and memorabilia are nice as well. Most of this opinion came from teh box break video. The other opinions came from seeing cards on the bay. But overall, would love to win. Thanks for the contest and good luck to everyone!
Topps>the rest…nuff said!
I have collected Topps since 1971. Just can’t get enough. If I could I would open a Topps only shop. I get a kick out of the love of the Rangers and Swisher comments you both have. I do love my Nick Swisher Bowman Chrome X-Fractor 2002 RC #’d to 150. I also have followed the Rangers since Burroughs was there, Dad Burroughs not Son Burroughs.
Nice job guys.
Can’t believe I missed this box buster…don’t know if you picked a winner yet, if you have I’ll just have to buy one. Love all the inserts, harder to build a set but holds value and interest better. Thanks, guys!
bruce katto is our winner via a random selection.
decent boxs, as for being product of the year i dont think so, oh and btw nice shirt brian!
great vid i love 2012 base is good
you make the best videos ever
i cant wait till opening day topps…
The upside is that we still get full stats, and they even go back and add a lot of minor league stats now when they can. The downside is that they changed the abbreviations for some of the well known stats for no good reason. “W” & “SP” show up for batters instead of “BB” and “SLG.” The downside is that most of the cards have 3B listed twice for batters.
bought jumbo liked the cards got babe ruth ring
I loved the video> and love the cards i have been spending a ton of money on these cards!!!! You guys gave me a ton of info on the cards that i might need to know in the future!!! thanks for the info! love the video!!
That was an exciting box break nice Cal Ripken Jr ring card love the 1987 mini-cards. The pictures in these cards are very cool looking forward to topps series two baseball. The golden moments are the main insert I believe. I love golden giveaway code cards get cool stuff you can get. Love watching box breaks from beckettnational30 to get to know all about the cards. And what you will find in all the hobby boxes the topps archives looks pretty cool too.
