How Horrible The Flyers Are And That Phoenix
Goalie Mike Smith Has More Goals Than
One thing that has really surprised me is the start by the Colorado Avalanche. 12-1!!!! That is unbelievable! They bring in Roy, then suddenly the team takes off! Among the other surprises would be some of the ref errors. Calling no goals as goals, helping a player off the ice during the shift (led to a goal), and various others
The most surprising thing I’ve seen thus this NHL season is the slow start by some of the prominent teams in the league (NY Rangers, Flyers, comes to mind); Also the tremendous start by the Sharks and the Avalanche. But it’s a long season, so let’s see how things shape up. Just glad to have a full season, to be honest! Have fun at the Expo!
The biggest surprise for me so far this season has been the Phoenix Coyotes and how much different they are playing. For some reason they seem to have clicked early this year and look like the team that made the playoff run and a Division Title 2012. I just hope they can keep it up and make it into the Playoffs again this season..
the most surprising thing to me has been Hertl’s start to the year to have 4 goals in a game as a rookie is impressive enough add in that the fourth was a through the legs wrist shot well thats just dang amazing haha. hes definitely been my biggest surprise this year.
The most surprising thing about this NHL season to me so far is the number of fights that have occurred this early in the season. To be so early, tempers seem to be very aggressive. This should set up for a very intense latter part of the season and definitely into the playoffs.
The most surprising thing to start the season is that her have been some extremely weird goals. If you we’re watching the San Jose sharks and he canucks last Thursday night, Joe Thortons goal was ridiculous. I don’t know where he puck bounced but I think it was scored only because of the shallower nets. Also another weird one was with Carolina against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It would have probably been icing in guild system but the Carolina player was ahead of the MPle Leaf at the face off dot and he puck ounces off the end boards, off Jonathan Bernier and into the net. If this is an early trend, it will sure he a fun year for the blooper reals on sportscenter.
I’m surprised at how well the Toronto Maple Leafs are doing. I’m a Habs fan and I even have to admit that. I’m also surprised at well the Colorado Avalanche are doing. Let’s give it up to a former Moosehead’s goalie Giguere and an All-time Great goalie Roy.
What has surprised me so far is how evenly things are starting out: some teams are playing better than expected, and others are playing worse. I like the parity and unpredictability! Enjoy the expo!
The dominance by the Colorado Avalanche in all facets of the game. Coming off a non-playoff season, they’re already within 3 wins of last season’s total, and are outscoring opponents almost 2-1 so far for the year.
Oh, and get well soon Susan.
The turn around of Marc-Andre Fleury. Pretty much everyone was writing off his days as a Penguin but then Vokoun goes down with a major injury and he starts the season 11-3.
I find it surprising that my Maple Leafs seem to have taken off on the good shortened season they had last year.
The emergence of young Tomas Hertl along with the development of the leadership of Logan Couture in San Jose.
what suprizes me is the number of cheapshots and suspension they were down last year and already this year out of control in escalation
My mighty leafs are surprisingly playing alright. Maybe I will see a cup victory in my lifetime!
Hockey has a big surprise……..it’s the head shot actually being penalized like hockey is serious. There could and should have been some bigger suspensions……but the fact that the NHL has followed through is pleasantly surprising.
Not surprising…that the Sharks got hosed out of an overtime win because the league failed to review a goal.
The most surprising thing to me so far into the NHL season is that there are consistent offensive performers who, were not at the top of the leaderboards at any other time during their career, or showed any signs that an offensive outburst was on the horizon. It may be due to the decrease in goalie pad size, change of rules or even change of scenery for some these players. Guys like Alex Steen leading the league in goals, Jiri Hudler, Kyle Okposo , Frans Nielsen are all top 15 players in points. Pavel Datsyuk and Martin St. Louis showing that they can still produce consistently at their advanced age. That has been the most surprising thing to me, the usual league leaders are given a run for their money by some unexpected faces.
I’m surprised that despite the sheer number of #1 picks they’ve had in recent years that the Oilers still haven’t put together a winning team. I would have thought for sure that they would have turned things around by now.
The biggest surprise so far this season would have to be Tomas Hertl 4 goals on opening night as a rookie.
The most surprising thing for me (and this will probably not surprise many hockey fans out there) is the continued struggles of the Columbus Blue Jackets. They’ve made all the right moves in the last year. They fired Scott Howson and they now have a legitimate GM to run the team in Jarmo Kekalainen. We have JD as the president of hockey operations. The coaching staff is well rounded with Todd Richards, Craig Hartsburg, Dan Hinote, and others. Hell, even the Pepsi Power Patrol girls are as gorgeous as ever (my friend, Brooke, is one of them). And this team has serious talent now. You can’t go wrong with guys like Marian Gaborik, Brandon Dubinsky, Jared Boll, Cam Atkinson, Boone Jenner, and the reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Sergei Bobrovsky. Night in and night out, the aforementioned players are giving it 100%! Granted, they won handily last night, but not before being the victims of a 5-game losing streak. I feel like defensively this team needs serious improvements. Bob practically stands on his head and he still has a losing record. Like I said, it probably doesn’t surprise many, but for me it’s surprising. I guess it’s just a matter of being a better team on the ice rather than just on paper. Anyway, here’s hoping they turn things around! GO JACKETS!
I am surprised that my Coyotes have come together nicely while my Islanders have not.
The most surprising thing to me is the offensive outburst of Frans Nielson of the Islanders.
The most surprising thing of this season is the offensive outburst from Frans Nielson of the Islanders.
Living in Minnesota, I’m pleasantly surprised at how well our second year players are doing. Brodin was already a stud, but Granlund, and Coyle have done well. Add in Pominville, Nino, and Harding….I like the prospects for the year.
#1 It’ s Colorado Avalanche and the two goaltender Jean_Sebastien Giguere and Semyon Varlamov. What a surprise for this team and very happy for Patrick Roy.
The ability to bring me back to the sport! I lost interest long ago but just this year I have found myself wanting to watch every last minute of every game. Not sure what changed but something this year has intrigued me to the point that if I am watching a game I HAVE to watch every last minute. Been out of the loop with hockey. What changed?
Tomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks and his between the legs shot and goal and being ont of the top scorers as a rookie
The most surprising thing for me is my return to hockey. I’ve been away from the sport for years, even though the Caps (my home team) have been pretty good. But this year, I’ve found myself watching hockey more and more, and I realized how much I missed it.
Id have to say that im blown away by the way some of the young guys are playing. Thomas Hertl and the young Colorado Avalanche are great early season stories. Hertl just keeps scoring, and the Avs are making a bid for best team in hockey.
The most surprising thing for me this year is the fact that the Canucks are the best road team to this point. I knew that they hadthe potential to be a good team but the way they’ve dominated in the road this far has been great.
The most surprising thing to me is the fact that Anaheim has the best record in the NHL and the Flyers are in last place!
New York Islanders, 3 players with 19 or more goals already!
I’m surprised & disappointed @ how crappy the Panthers are doing. & Huberdeau isn’t looking like he did his rookie yr so far. Tough being a Florida sports fan right now
Without question the reemergence of the Avalanche led by new Coach Legendary goalie Patrick Roy. Avsitude.
How bad the Panthers are doing and how good Tyler Seguin is fitting in with the Stars.
Two big surprises this season so far, one – the play of the Ducks, knew they were going to be better, but this is one heck of a start. two- it looks like the realignment is working really well, i had my doubts, and i know its early, but a lot of really close division races, looks like a lot of teams will be fighting for a playoff spot down the road.
I’m most surprised by how bad the Oilers are with the amount of talent they have.
Ugh, Jay … that surprises and frustrates the heck out of me.
As a Florida Panthers fan the most surprising thing thats happend so far this season Kevin Dineen getting fired.
Sure the Cats are off to a slow start but I dont think it was Dineens fault.
Im also suprised how well Tampa Bay is doing in such a tough division
The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending tandem is the best in the NHL…cannot remember the last time this was the case.
Biggest surprise of the season so far… Alex Steen tied for the league lead in Goals with Stamkos!! Come on, who would have thought that Alex Steen would be averaging almost a goal a game… ALEX STEEN!!!
The biggest surprise of this hockey season is that I missed Hockey Night in Canada for the first time in years because my 9 year old son accidentally cracked our tv after hitting it with (you guessed it) his mini hockey stick. To make it worse, this past Saturday night was the Bruins (my team) vs Leafs!
For me just hoping the Capitals take it up a notch and get to the Finals It’s a long and crazy season.
Now with Stamkos out who will be they go to. Funny weird fun Hockey is back.
On the card side I just wonder how the Dbl rc year will mean for Hockey Collectors.
The winner of the Patrice Bergeron autograph card is Matt Bible. Congrats on winning and thanks to everyone who entered.
The most surprising thing to me is the volume of injuries that many of the new rules were designed to prevent. Some key players have hit the skids already, despite the Shanahan enforcement policies and the rule changes. Virtually every team seems to have more injuries as the game gets faster and the hitting gets reduced. Thanks for your time!
