That’s the first Gretzky auto I’ve seen. There are none on eBay.

Chris, it’s just like the walter payton dual cut auto and how beckett “magically” pulled it. I will refer to this as “shocking” redux.

If I’m not mistaken, Gretzky has nearly 20, 1/1 autos in this product. Not to diminish that card, but any conspiracy theory is just silly. And boxes are $400!

Well I am glad to see someone got some value out of there boxes. Who the heck wants some of the other players in this stuff. Upper Deck has offically died… This product looks / sounds like a swan song. Most advid collectors know what to stay away from. Me and Chris have had our differences on this board, but in his defense he is being supplied free boxes. Of course some boxes are loaded some less than others but the companies want us to think it’s a great product. Sad part is they are all a gamble…… And most of the time we lose.
I am not a huge fan of Beckett box breaks mostly for this reason. We are all just playing the lottery.
We as collectors have to make our own disissions on what to buy. Not by someone elses box breaks. As fixed as some may be… Just my opinion.

Chris – like the subject of the next multi-sport mag. Here’s a link to a relevant article I wrote as part of an ongoing column for my newspaper a while back:

Looking at the checklist provided by Upper Deck, this product has about 430 ONE of ONEs. There is an average of a 1/1 every 15.5 boxes. That means about 40% of all SIX BOX CASES have a 1/1. And, there are many autographed cards numbered 10 or less. This product gives you reasonable odds to get you something special for 20 of the All Time Great Sports Heros.
