Sure, we could go the played-out predictions route in honor of the 2009 NFL season kicking off Thursday (it’s about time!); you know, sit here and tell you who we think will win the Super Bowl and Rookie of the Year and MVP and (yawn) . . .
Or, we could do something a little more suited to our audience, which is why we’re giving you $1,000 to spend on football cards. (Hey, don’t go crazy, it’s imaginary money).
Here’s the deal: With your fake bankroll, “purchase” at least five football cards right now (based on current Beckett prices) that you think will appreciate the most in value during the 2009 season.
We’ll randomly select 10 collectors who submit their lists to us via email and follow their collections monthly (and publicly) throughout the season. At season’s end (after Super Bowl XLIV), we’ll award the overall winner (the person whose collection appreciates the most in value) with a pigskin potpourri prize pack that includes an as-yet-undetermined array of 2009 football products.
It’s that simple.
So pick your cards, don’t exceed your imaginary $1,000 budget and email your selections to firstname.lastname@example.org (with “2009 NFL Preview” in the subject line). All entries must be received prior to the noon kickoff of Sunday’s Week 1 games (by noon CST on Sunday, Sept. 13).
