30days

By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor

The start of a new baseball season is not far away and we wanted to add some march madness of the MLB variety to collectors’ routines leading up to the new season.

Today, we’re launching 30 contests for 30 teams that will last for 30 days.

Each MLB team will have a contest and a winner on that team’s Opening Day. How can you find out more? How can you enter? Click “read more” below for all your instructions.

MiniSet

The prize: A 2014 Bowman Chrome Mini team set of the franchise noted in this post’s title. (Winner will receive all base cards and any bonus cards we received in our factory set for that team.)

The Instructions: Leave a comment below telling us who you think will be the key player for the team mentioned above in the coming season.

You can enter as many times as you want as many days as you want as long as we receive your entry before April 1. We’ll pick a winner to each team at random on its Opening Day.

Be sure to include your name and a working email address with your post — that’s how we’ll contact you if you are a winner.

The Twins need someone to exhibit some consistency in the starting rotation. That said, the Twins need another strong season from Phil Hughes. His performance will be the key to solidify the rest of the rotation. WIN Twins!!

The Twins’ key player this year is Joe Mauer. While he won’t magically gain a ton of power and hit 20+ HRs as everyone seems to think he needs to, he does need to return to form and hit .320+ again. The Twins were one of the top teams in runs scored last year, and that was with one of Mauer’s worst years. If Mauer can bounce back and play like he is capable of again, that should be even more runs across the board, which should equate to more wins. Granted, the Twins are still a couple years away from contention (and this is coming from a huge fan), but if Mauer plays to his capabilities, the Twins should have a fairly good year

The key player will be Ervin Santana. If he can pitch like a true number 1 or 2 starter, the Twins have a chance.

Sorry Molitor, but the Twins can’t win this year, they just can’t. No one on the current roster matters. Best thing that can happen to the Twins is if Buxton is healthy and tears up MiLB.

Actually, I take that back. A great first half from Hughes could turn into valuable trade bait at the deadline.

They need somebody to come on that is not expected. I’m saying Buxton needs to move up from being top minor league prospect.

Phil Hughes. If he can repeat last year’s performance we’ve got a solid 1-2 in the rotation.

This is tough because there are so many that you could pick, but I’m going to go with
    Brian Dozier

Brian Dozier – He will have another all-star caliber season and the Twins will surprise people and be in the mix longer than expected.

I think the key will be Ervin Santana. We need to get our pitching back on track and he needs to start it.

Oswaldo Arcia. If he can prove to be a competent fielder and be a little more selective at the plate, he could prove to be a valuable piece in the middle of the lineup moving forward.
