The character of James Bond is a classic. He’s the movie spy that everyone else is compared to. So 2016 Rittenhouse James Bond Classics might be an appropriate name. Despite the new title, much of the format remains the same as recent sets of James Bond trading cards. Large vintage-style insert sets and autographs lead the way.

2016 James Bond Classics Header

The 2016 Rittenhouse James Bond Classics base set has 72 cards. Rather than focusing on the most recent film, Spectre, it goes back to 1999’s The World Is Not Enough. The movie has already has its own set but it was put out by Inkworks before Rittenhouse got the James Bond license. This new base set is heavy on images and recaps the story and its major scenes.

Rittenhouse continues to fill in the gaps with its Throwback sets. These are large inserts based on specific films that are essentially sets within the main set. This time around, The Man with the Golden Gun, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and License to Kill each get their own Throwback set.

Both the base set and the License to Kill sets have Gold parallels.

2016 Rittenhouse James Bond Classics boxes come with a pair of autographs. Among the signers are a few appearing for the first-time on an autograph card. Daniela Bianchi played Tatiana Romanova in From Russia with Love. A couple of years before that, she was the runner-up in the Miss World pageant. Another debut signer is Ben Whishaw who has taken on the role of Q in both Spectre and Skyfall.

Other key signers in the product include Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Sophie Marceau and Naomie Harris.

While Spectre isn’t in the base set, the 2015 film is represented in a set of inserts printed on metal. Inserted 1:144 packs, these aren’t easy pulls.

2016 Rittenhouse James Bond Classics SPECTRE Metal Cards

Like most Rittenhouse James Bond trading card sets, there’s a custom binder available separately that comes with an exclusive promo card.

Another Rittenhouse tradition is incentives for those ordering multiple cases. Judi Dench has a Silver Signature Series Autograph for those buying six cases. The nine-case incentive is a Daniel Craig Gold Signature Series Autograph. Finally, there’s an Archive Box as an 18-case incentive. Included with this is an exclusive Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore) autograph that isn’t in packs.

They’ve been trying for years. Apparently he has zero interest in signing anything, whether that’s cards or anything else. I believe he’s one of the toughest signatures out there.

I’m surprised they just don’t make a number of “cuts” for Sean Connery. Granted, it would be more costly than a direct signing, but still it would be nice, especially if they had a reasonable amount made.

It’s almost always a matter of not offering enough money. They finally got Sarah Michelle Geller and released that mini set with her auto at $400 per with 2 versions. They could do the same for him
    and instantly sell out.
