2015-16 Panini Excalibur Basketball gets medieval on the hobby. After being a strictly Target exclusive in 2014-15, a couple of shifts have brought the premium boxes over to hobby. Target gets blasters and retail packs. Both versions have their own exclusives.

Six-pack hobby boxes have three total autographs and memorabilia cards, lots of inserts and one rookie per pack.

2015-16 Panini Excalibur Basketball has a 200-card base set. This includes 50 rookie cards. All 200 cards have five levels of parallels: Knight’s Templar, Light Blue, Silver (/70), Gold (/25) and Black (1/1).

The key insert is Crusade, a colorful optichrome set that comes in several colors. It takes the Prizm approach to building a rainbow with parallels in several colors numbered to 199 or less.

KABOOM!, on of the most distinct (and pricey) inserts to arrive in basketball in a long time, return. Players are portrayed as though they’re from a comic. KABOOM! inserts land about one per 20-box hobby case.

Autographs and memorabilia cards come in several forms and themes. These include Rookie Rampage Jersey Jumbo Autographs (with Prime parallels), Treasured Ink, Monumental Marks, and Regal Endorsements.

Dumb luck – pulled a Chris Paul “Kaboom” from a $5 gravity feed pack – nice cards overall, but too pricey.

Crazy luck! I pulled a Lebron also! Wild luck. There must only be ten of these. I wonder how many? It’s so great.
