2015-16 Panini Eminence Basketball Cut Signatures Charlie Chaplin

By Ryan Cracknell | Hobby Editor

At a cost upwards of $1,000 per card, 2014-15 Panini Eminence Basketball is a product most will simply watch, observe and maybe hold for a closer look. While the main focus is on some ultra-premium autographs and precious metal pieces, the limited product has some cut signatures as well.

Even if you go to the most impressive autographs the sport has to offer, there’s a limited number of people that could just justify the cost. So the 2014-15 Panini Eminence Basketball Cut Signatures go beyond the hardwood to other sports and history as a whole.

For some, the result could be a sort of set within a set.

Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, George Custer and Napoleon Bonaparte are some of the political signatures in 2015-16 Panini Eminence Basketball. From the realm of pop culture, there’s Charlie Chaplin, James Dean, Harry Houdini and John Steinbeck. Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner are among the baseball players. Of course, there’s basketball too. Pete Maravich, Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan and Red Auerbach are some of those on the checklist.

While the majority of the cards are one-of-ones, some have higher print runs. They still stick with the theme of Eminence where no card has a print run higher than 10.

Panini has a large gallery of some of the cut signatures posted on their site. We’ve included some highlights below along with a full checklist and print runs.

All of those historical letters cut up and distroyed……… for the purpose of selling a high price trading card… shameful!!

Seems more like an “Americana” set than something with Basketball in the name. It’s very cool but a misnomer.

I could buy a “case” of this for about $6,000.
Of course a case actually translates to a box, and that box actually translates to 7-10 cards.

While some of the autographs are very impressive, most are easily acquirable for under $6000.
For example George Mikan is readily available still and certified on card autographs have sold
    for under $100.

Given that since all cards are #’d to 10 or less, that translates to not appearing on a regular basis
in the guide, and any rookie in the product will not be considered a RC.

I’m looking forward to seeing what eventually sells on Ebay, but I’m guessing few people will
    be making a profit.

Cuts look great but at almost $6,000 a pack, how many of us would actually risk that amount of money for a two minute thrill?

I am a fan and have been a supporter of high end products but this one is a pass for me… At around $600 per card it’s tough to justify opening this product… I am curious to see how it goes though.

These cut auto’s, can someone please make boxes big enough to fit the auto’s? They are always “cut” off. Isn’t that ironic, don’t you think?

Why call it basketball? Makes zero sense. Just call it “more high end junk we can’t afford”.
