Because it’s not a definitive list.

Why do you use a survey for questions with definitive answers? It makes sense for opinions but not something like who has more game uses cards.

Yeah, but with more career hits than anyone on the list, and the fact that he shares his RC with Hall of Very Gooder Alan Trammell, it seems like and odd omission. That’s alright, Molly never gets hobby love, I’ll forgive this transgression.

Love the questions keep them coming mixed with old and new

What is the Babe Ruth Rookie Card? What is it booking for and at what condition?? Another fun survey.
Thanks.

…and, Dan, there are more than a few rookies “from the last 35 years or so”. How many, I wonder? I’m sure it was a very hard list to nail down, Chris, but I think you gave us a very nice overview.

Ok…who voted Mickey Mantle for #10?!

Posted June 25, 2014 at 11:07 am | Permalink

Wow, I had no clue there were so many valuable RC’s in the ’83 Fleer set! I was just given a free set! How lucky am I?

Many people forget that the 1952 Topps Mantle is NOT a rookie card. It’s actually the 1951 Bowman that books in the $8500 range. The 1915 Sporting News Ruth card is the only one over $10k.

I believe Murphy will eventually be voted into the HoF by the Veterans Committee. He wouldn’t be the worst choice in the world either, especially if the Anti-PED foolishness continues.

Interesting that you picture the correct answers above so many of the questions. Yes, as David mentioned, the 1952 Topps Mantle is not his rookie card.

Why no “Reggie” cards or questions, Chris????

Fun stuff as always! Thanks. Hey, I need that Boone…swapping it out?

Great quiz!. 1978 was 36 years ago so Murray and Molitor should not count. Expand to the list to the past 40 years, then George Brett would be my pick.

To be fair Greg, it does say 35 years or so, I don’t think the timeline was to be carved in marble. Dan is right though, Molitor is way over-looked in the hobby. So is Murray – I mean 500 HRs AND 3,000 hits??? Who does that? Yet you can’t give either man’s RC away.

Thanks for including Ozzie Canseco as part of your poll. He is now managing the Brownsville Charros independent team in United League Baseball
