Topps and Panini preview upcoming autos while at NFLPA Rookie Premiere

By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Football Editor

The NFLPA Rookie Premiere began this week. The event puts together more than 30 of the top rookie prospects with NFL-licensed trading card companies.

Topps and Panini America use this event to get autographs for upcoming releases and a number of those
“event-worn” jerseys you see in products throughout the season. Both companies have been showing off what is going on behind the scenes, giving collectors a sneak peek.

Check out pictures the companies tweeted from the event below.

Murray thinks he’s Aaron Rodgers with that auto, huh?

Love that they show the cheap “event worn” jerseys that will flood the market with cheap hit fillers in products in Brendin Cooks photo. You have clear evidence of how many of these jerseys they use just to say that Carlos Hyde worn these jerseys for a few minutes. It’s a slap in the face of any hobbyist that they call it memorabilia. There is nothing memorable about them. They are just cheap gimmicks.

Manufacturers, please STOP the production of “event worn” relics. Collectors can wait for the real game worn relics for the rookies. Please just provide the autos from this event, and retire the concept of the “event worn” relics. These “jersey” cards have very little value, and are certainly not “hits”. We can do better than this.
