Topps reveals 2014 football flagship design

By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Football Editor

The 2013 football season wrapped less than a week ago, and Topps is already thinking ahead.

The card company revealed the design for 2014 Topps Football on Thursday.

The design features the colors of the player’s team. In the example, green and navy blue are heavily used for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Topps also announced Super Bowl XLVIII MVP Malcolm Smith will be getting a card in 2014 Topps. Smith, a linebacker, does not have a trading card yet despite being in the league since 2011.

Let us know what you think of the design.

What do you think of the 2014 Topps Football base design?

topps stinks in that their good designers work on flagship football releases and the leftovers work making the flagship baseball release!

That design is awfully busy. I would prefer less ornamentation, and more photograph.

Is it safe to say that Topps will (for the foreseeable future, at least) not be using the same design for football and baseball? How many years did the two sets share a design?
