Tiger talks autos in behind-the-scenes signing video

YouTube Preview Image

Tiger Woods has reached a point in his career where he’s signed plenty of autographs and the demands for his signed items ultimately probably aren’t slowing despite his struggles of the last few years.

Upper Deck went behind the scenes for an Upper Deck Authenticated signing with Woods. It shows him signing tournament-used shirts, shoes and more.

“I’ve had many instances where there’s been forgeries and then fans are complaining that they were duped,” he said while selling the points of why UDA items are key for his collectors and recapping past triumphs. “They didn’t know about the hologram and unfortunately a lot of fans they pay the price for it.”

See what else Woods said in the video above.

Pretty cool vid! I like see people sign products that we end up seeing later on in the secondary market.

Very Cool and 1 of a few good reasons Uper Deck has its place in the History of Collectibles Innovation and
Superior Photography . Nice to hear an Athelete like Tiger Talk first hand on the Collectible Pieces he’s signing. I for one would like to see more of this with others Signing their Memorabia and their cards.
thanks guys

@ CashforGold, do you know that Upper Deck is paying Tiger Woods pretty handsomly to sign things for them? What makes you think he’d care what Upper Deck was selling his memorabilia for?

he gets 300 per signature. that still doesn’t justify charging 1k-2k and up for a signed shirt

I don’t have problems paying UD Authenticated prices for some items. A few years ago, I was about to pull the trigger on an Albert Pujols auto item on UD AUTH when my purchase was denied. UD had troubles with MLB in that timeframe and I’m guessing UD had to pull from sale the items with MLBP logos on them.

Yes, it would have been about 3x what I could get a Pujols auto on ebay, but I know his sig is so easily forgable that I didn’t have confidence looking at Pujols autos on ebay and wondering if the cert autos listed there were legit cert autos or were forged cert autos when some scumbag has blank stickers to begin wtih or removes them from who cares cards, swipes the ink and forges the auto. Paying 3x would have been piece of mind for me that it was legit and not a really expensive fake.

I feel tiger woods fans feel the same way. piece of mind buying from UD AUTH plus about $1k for a golf shirt, it’s probably a more awesome thing for some Tiger fan to have compared to some of his cert auto golf cards that run in that price range.

I certainly don’t mind UD doing this. And I am sure Tiger will be flooded with requests the rest of his life. But couldn’t he sign for free just a little more often? Gretzky, Manning, a lot of the big names and UD signers still make themselves accessible when you find them. Never met Manning, but Gretzky signs a lot if you get to him. Tiger just looks at you like you have a second head, if he looks at you at all.
