First look: 2014 Press Pass Racing

By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Sports Card Monthly Editor

Press Pass Racing is bringing back many inserts and relics that made the set popular throughout the years.

2014 Press Pass Racing will offer a comprehensive look back at the 2013 season with a focus on the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup contenders.

Each box will have one on-card autograph and one memorabilia card.

The autographs will feature Press Pass Signings and die-cut Aerodynamic Autos, including press plate versions of both. The autograph relics will highlight victory tire cards, which is a throwback to the first memorabilia card in 1996.

Race-used memorabilia include:
- Burning Rubber: victory tires from 2013 races, which will have parallels
- Burning Rubber Letterman Edition: limited edition oversized letterman tire cards featuring the manufacturer letters from victory tires.
- Three Wide – Race-used driver and car memorabilia cards with swatches of firesuit, sheet metal and tire.
- Four Wide – One of Press Pass’ most popular memorabilia cards return in 2014 with a new look. Each card features four swatches of race-used memorabilia.

Press Pass Racing will feature a 100-card base set with seven subsets including Snapshots, Giving Back, Ground Crew and Hot Seat. In addition, there will be three color proof base set parallels.

The inserts will include Replay, Velocity, Hall of Fame, Zero Card and Cup Chase.

Press Pass Racing is scheduled to come out Nov. 20.

Not the best week to be announce they will be focusing on Chase contenders given the whole thing is a fraud.

I was thinking about that too, but the preview was released before today’s ruling.
