The 2013 Bowman Chrome Superfractor of Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Yasiel Puig has been pulled, has been sold, has been graded and is headed into another product.
The 1/1 headline card from the Topps product released on Friday was pulled by a collector in Central Texas, received a Gem Mint 9.5 grade from Beckett Grading Services on Monday and was purchased by Lomita, Calif-based South Bay Baseball Cards to be included in one of its upcoming Super Boxes, a high-end repackage product comprised of graded cards, memorabilia and sketch cards made just for the product, which will be announced Tuesday but does not yet have a price point.
The card was posted on eBay during the weekend for $25,000, receiving 13 offers, before it was sold offline.

Quarterbacks take the spotlight week in and week out in the NFL. But in Week 4, we’re going to focus on the running backs.
Several running backs had impressive showings this weekend – and late last week.
Three that stood out from the crowd were San Francisco’s Frank Gore, Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson and Detroit’s Reggie Bush.
Of course, we still have to give a shout out to Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers for their performances this weekend.
Frank Gore, RB, San Francisco 49ers
Many NFL pundits wondered when Gore would have a breakout game to get his season rolling. It happened last week when he rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown in a 35-11 win over the St. Louis Rams.

Baseball | Henderson Alvarez, Henderson Alvarez no-hitter, Miami Marlins, MLB, Topps | Comments (0)
It took until the ninth inning of the 162nd game of the season for everything to come together for the last-place Miami Marlins.
Pitcher Henderson Alvarez no-hit the AL Central-winning Detroit Tigers for nine innings but it took a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to score a run and secure his win. The right-hander finishes the season with a 5-6 record, and the no-no ups his career mark to 15-23 over three seasons.
For collectors, Alvarez appears on 131 different baseball cards since making his minor-league cardboard debut in 2009. His cards (click here for a checklist or OPG) are valued at a total of $440, excluding rarities.

Hockey | Canadiens, Denis Brodeur, Martin Brodeur, New Jersey Devils, Olympics, photography, sports photography | Comments (0)

The hockey world lost somebody special Thursday.
Denis Brodeur passed away at the age of 82.
He’s best known because of his famous son, Devils goalie Martin Brodeur. But his impacts on the game – and card collecting – extend far beyond his lineage. A lifelong photographer, Denis Brodeur captured decades of hockey moments.
If you’re a hockey fan, you’ve probably seen his photos and didn’t even realize it. Wayne Gretzky. Mark Messier. Patrick Roy. Gordie Howe. Stanley Cup victories. The winning goal in the 1972 Summit Series. He was there, snapping away, a witness to history.
He captured many of his photos as the longtime photographer for the Montreal Canadiens (he was also a photographer for baseball’s Montreal Expos).
Later in his life, he sold his hockey images to the NHL.
Card companies rely heavily on the league’s archives for photographs of retired players. So after the 2006 sale, Brodeur’s photos started regularly appearing on hockey cards produced by Upper Deck and Panini.
