BOX BUSTERS LIVE: 2013 Topps Archives baseball cards — Watch the replay and win our boxes!

The latest Box Busters Live has come and gone — but you still can win one of three boxes. Watch the video to find out how … start at the 3:30 mark as we had some technical difficulties. Deadline for entering is June 22.

Who: Beckett Media’s Chris Olds, Susan Lulgjuraj, Brian Fleischer  – and you.

What: Box Busters Live – an absolutely free live video chat and box-breaking experience where you ask the questions, you get the answers … and you may even get the cards.

When: Today starting at 1 p.m. Central time. It will run about two hours, maybe a tad longer to finish ripping. (We’ll chat about and rip all four boxes before they can be yours.)

Where: The video portal will be right here above. You can join in on the discussions by leaving comments right here on this post, chatting via our Google Hangout, watching on YouTube or commenting to us on Twitter.

The product: The newest edition of the reigning Beckett Baseball Product of the Year, Topps Archives.

I am in a case rip tonight and have the Cubbies and Padres. Need some Sandberg and Gwynn love tonight. My first question is what is the card stock like?

Me too. Besides the Axl of course, I’m looking forward to seeing the Scott Ian auto. Most of the other guys/gals (Lita) were included in the 2008 Spectrum or in a Pop Century release. It’s cool to have a few first timers.

I love that Topps is bringing back the Retro look. I loved the 68′ deckle look last year. And I love seeing more obscure autos. Bob Welch? That’s awesome! I hope they do this at least a few more years, so we can see current players on 70′s/80′s cards.

So far, so good. With all fo the Topps products coming out in the last 30-45 days, do you think collectors will gravitate to Archives over GQ, Hertiage, etc.?

FUMBLE!!! That’s probably the stack of cards “I” will randomly win! Thanks Chris!

Archives was my favorite set last year. I would love to win one of these boxes.

I saw retail chase cards listed on the checklist that you linked here. Do you know if those are the Target retro All-Star exclusives that Topps posted on Twitter a couple of days ago? Do you know what the odds are on those?

Any idea what the redemption cards for Vintage cards will get you? is it just going to be leftovers from the million card giveaway and things like that?

2 Susans are even better than 1!!! Dibs on any and all A’s cards!!!

S Bach might be a sleeper Rock auto too… My wife is a fan of Gilmore Girls the T.V show. He had a decent couple+ year spot on the show. He might have some extra fans that have interest in him.

Keith Miller had no agent when he signed and the Yanks ended up voiding the contract. He eventually became an agent to help younger players, because of what happened to himself.

Hey Chris, I think that one card you pulled earlier in the break, the one with the guy on the front with his back that had nothing about him, is one of the SP error cards I’ve heard about

Posted May 31, 2013 at 3:30 pm | Permalink

As a lifelong Cubs fan, I gotta love that Fergie Jenkins.

I HATE HATE HATE that Topps keeps missing opportunities to put players on new designs. Just looking at the ’85 design this year – why wouldn’t they put Molitor, Yount and Brett on a design where those players haven’t already been pictured (i.e. 1972). Still waiting for Molitor to get his own 1978 design “RC.”

Been looking forward to this set. But there is a Tristar card show this weekend in Houston and “my” dealer won’t have them in yet. Big Bummer. :(

Everyone knows of the Frank Thomas No Name on Front from the 1990 Topps. It would have been cool if they threw in a few Scare Error cards with the No Name on Front. Maybe the scarcity of #/10 or #/5. That cards look cool either way. Love it.

I’m loving Archives more and more each year and +1′s to the 90′s designs as I was a child growing up in that decade. Keep it coming Topps!

Like the annual Archives installment from Topps. Picked up 2 boxes today. Pulled a Leta Ford Hard Rock auto which was double-signed, front and back.

Cool product. I hope they keep this up and keep throwing in all the cool inserts. Would love to see the gold embossed cards from the 60s or even the metal cards from the mid 80s.

Posted June 1, 2013 at 4:08 pm | Permalink

Interesting set, don’t know how I feel about the Heavy Metal inclusion. That seems like more of a Ginter subset. For Archives, I do actually like the fact that the Fan Favorites are less prominent players. It could actually be an attainable complete Auto set to go after. I like that they group the bigger names into another subset.

I didn’t think they could topp (LOL) last year’s archive set, but with the great looking 1972 card design … how can I stay away?? The Heavy Metal cards are a little out of left field for me, but … whatever, they’re cool, but NOT why I would buy a box. Love the Basketball design insert and the McCutchen Football design card is awesome.
Great break video, but 2 hours?!?! That’s quite a long investment of time … maybe in the future you can streamline the video to an hour? Maybe without the glitches it’ll be more efficient.
