Pastime Cards is latest player in repack business

By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor

There’s another player in the repack game — and this one’s starting out with the Hall of Fame.

Pastime Cards, a Brandon, Fla.-based company, makes its product debut next week with 2013 Pastime Collection Hall of Fame Edition — a buyback product that includes nothing but Hall of Famer autograph cards in every box along with two other cards.

Each box, which carries an approximate price of $250, includes five Hall of Famer autos — all certified by PSA, JSA or the previous manufacturer — along with a Pastime Performers card and a Pastime Points card. The points, like other similar companies’ products, can be accumulated for items on its website, while the Performers cards feature big names from the distant past and are limited to just 25 copies per card.

The company is making just 100 boxes of this product with two of them being Hot Boxes — one of Mickey Mantle and one of Joe DiMaggio. Each of those boxes contains five cards of that player.

Some cards will include redemptions for slabbed cards that will not fit in the boxes. Those will be bonus autographs in the boxes, the company said.

For $250.00 I’d rather send MY cards in to Beckett to get graded…….That’s just as much suspense as opening the mentioned box.

I will pastime somewhere else.

Peace
