I love signed checks. I don't know why...maybe it's just a brief look at the everyday life of the player, who we always see as a player, but still has a life outside of baseball that is never seen.

A year ago I was given a group of 10 checks issued from the Braves organization, and I assumed they weren't made out to anyone significant, but upon checking them out I found that two of them were written to Joe Bowman and Al LaMacchia and signed by each on the back. They were both scouts with the Braves with previous time in the major leagues as well.

I was just looking up people who have the same birthday as me since you mentioned you shared a birthday with Joe Sewell and I found three really good baseball players I share a birthday with. Ernie Banks, Jackie Robinson and Nolan Ryan.

That's incredible! Great story. Very interesting connection with Riggs Stephenson.

I never knew Joe Sewell was the best at not striking out. I love that. I collected Mark Grace for that same reason.
