Week 13: Monday Morning Collector

By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Football Editor

The NFL is nearing the end of the regular season. There are just three weeks left to decide what teams will make the playoffs.

It seems like this time of year certain players stand out with gritty performances.

This week was tougher than most to give awards. Many veterans had solid weeks and some rookies certainly shined, but had dark moments during games as well.

Here are the awards for week 13:

Veteran of the Week
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings – Peterson won the award again with an outstanding performance on Sunday. He rushed for 210 yards on 21 carries, padding his league-leading season total, and scored in a 23-14 loss to Green Bay. Peterson has rushed for 100 yards or more in six straight games.

Ughhh…..I know Luck is good….but Russell Wilson led to huge drives against the Bears defense and had a comeback win of his own. He didn’t throw any interceptions either. But….of course Luck gets the attention.

Jason, one of the reasons I like Monday Morning Collector is because of the dialogue. I spend a lot of time picking the stuff and tend to go back and forth on guys before making a final decision. I know Luck has gotten a lot of attention generally, but I don’t think I have actually written about him much here. If anything I’ve gone RG3 overkill.

I love to hear others opinions and even solicit suggestions sometimes on Twitter when I can’t decide.

I understand. I’m still feeling a little burnt about all the attention Luck gets on ESPN and even the fact that he has some MVP buzz around him. He’s thrown almost as many TDs as he has INTs. I’m not denying he’s good because he’s helped turn that franchise around in just his first season. Its just that the two big names, Luck and RG3, tend to get more attention and buzz than Wilson.

I wouldn’t deny that, and thanks for reminding me. I’ll try to do a better job of making notes of the other rookies in the league.
