Dynamics CEO talks Upper Deck reward system

By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Football Editor

Jeff Mullen grew up a sports fan and collector.

He knows first-hand what it’s like to get the rush from opening a pack of cards.

When the CEO of Dynamics Inc., put together the reward system for the innovative Dynamics ePlate Visa credit card, one of the highlights would be for those who loved cards.

“Right now for me to collect, I would have to go down to the sports card store,” Mullen said. “It’s becoming rare to find a physical sports card shop. As a result the joy of pack ripping is becoming less and less frequent.”

The credit card works with different reward systems and the consumer can decide right before purchase the reward they want to use based on the app on the card.

They can either use it to earn digital cards – and when a digital set is complete get an exclusive Upper Deck pack – or other rewards such as Dark Horse Comics, digital movie rentals or Toys for Tots.

With the UD system, collectors will get one digital card for every $10 spent.

“The ePlay system is about personalization,” Mullen said. “It’s allowing the credit card to give rewards that are meaningful to you.”

The digital cards consist of a 250-card set in three different sports (football, basketball, golf). Every time a person fills one of the base sets, collectors will get one pack of UD Infinite from the respective sport, which is exclusive to the program and can contain an autograph card.

The digital cards can be traded or sold to build sets more quickly. Mullen says the digital cards are not short-printed and are available at the same rate as the rest of the cards.

“I am always traveling. I am always flying. I’m never in a place where I can buy sports card packs,” Mullen said. “Now all I have to enjoy pack ripping is just buy lunch or pay at the pump.”

This is just weird. And in my opinion, wouldn’t be enough to entice me to get this credit card.

The boss man and and anyone who buys this is definitely on the sauce. This CEO from whatever this
company is called gets the jock sniffer of the year award. Unfortunately for him their aren’t going to be a lot of jocks left to sniff at UD as they are all but done. I stick with my “cash back” card and laugh at any fool that
buys a card that gives them images of cards if they buy something. Just a dumb idea.

Do they really thimk this is gonna save them from bankruptcy, if in fact thats where they are heading?? Which I think thats the route they are heading. What a stupid idea and especially what a rip-off for customers. Ya know, I havent been a long time collector or in no means am I an expert in collecting. Actually I only started collecting just a year and a half ago but always loved cards. When I started collecting I was always drawn to the old school UD baseball boxes…old school meaning like 2000 – 2010. I mean I love all the sets better than Topps. I do purchase some Topps stuff, well all I buy is Topps now since UD lost the rights to babseball. I mean what the heck happens to these companies anymore?? Like what the heck are they thinking?? Why let the baseball rights slip away too? Are the rights to baseball that expensive that if you aquired them you would still lose money making babseall cards?? Im no expert in any of this and dont claim to know even a tad more than most of you guys that have been collecting waaaaay longer than I have but I just dont understand how this stuff works yet and why these types of decisions are made.

Thanks for reading.

as Pt Barnum would say theymake them becasue THERE’S A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE”
Seriously. I just got the Latet Guide on the Precious metal Jordan is 3K now if it was essentiay boxes if not a case hit back in the day and Ud can give you odds of per pack why is this precieved value so high.
Not 1 360 chance but way less so Upper Deck is using any chance they can to push the Few Hi dollar spokesman in every product. Question is how long is the Lebron Jordan and Tiger contracts last cant be too much longer I suspect we will hear Panini landing on of these guys prefrerably Jordan. If I was any of the current players I would be looking to get out quickly.
