I was at the National when they did it this year and it was a blast. Good for them for doing something good like this. (They also were sponsoring a Sports cards for kids charity program at the show). They don’t have to do anything so I certainly appreciate their efforts.

They should just go out of business and put everyone out of their misery. Better yet they should
just refer all of their redemption card holders to the sites and ebay accounts of their internet retailers
or “cash paying friends of Upper Deck” to redeem their cards as they are the people that possess them.

Sweet, just pulled 3 today! A point system sounds like a great idea though. @graham – I believe my LCS actually started a class action lawsuit against Upper Deck for that exact reason. Makes me wonder if UD doing this is a result of that lawsuit.

It is false advertising and all the card companies do it.
If you put out a checklist of available cards and do not fulfill your obligation it sure sounds like false advertising.
Where does it say on the checklist or the box that some cards are available for a limited time???

I’ll give them credit for doing something. I don’t really think should feel obligated to offer anything, but good on them for trying.

They really should just convert to a point system.
Convert expired./unfulfillable redemptions to a point value based on a realistic market value.
Allow the consumers to see what is available and redeem them. Allow them to take several
items of a lower point value and combine them to get a better item.

The most important concept is consumer choice. Don’t just send something that you think
has the same market value. Collectors don’t want the hassle of attempting to resell something
they don’t want to eventually get something they do.
