So…Any bets as to if some of the losing teams sets get leaked as well??

I want the set from the loser as they’ll be rarer and more in demand…Wonder how long it will be before Topps announces a commemorative WS set in a granite finish, hollandaise sauce paralleled, amethyst anniversary embedded, sago palm green bordered, ser #d to the circumference in inches of a circle with an 8′ radius?

Wow. Nothing special there. But that is what happens when there is no competition. You can put out a boring product an tell everyone what’s in it ahead of time. No surprises. And people will buy it anyway because these are the only official sets they can get. That’s too bad.

Jon, how many companies made Series sets when there wasn’t an exclusive? Answer? Not many at all…

Not sure why the negative outlook on this. This is a product geared towards a fan of the team. It isn’t meant to be an investment set. What is the harm?

I absolutely agree. Although baseball card collecting is a bitter investment, barely making a fraction of what was input into the cost, a lot of it is geared to the fans. However I do agree JonathanI in the fact that it is frustrating not to have at least upper deck (although I personally want Donruss) to have an equal share in the production. I really dont like the excessive sets put out by topps, but there are a few that out shine.

I wish Topps would include playoff and World Series highlight cards in their flagship set. Either as inserts or as a part of the base set. Those were some of my favorite cards as a kid. Seeing a scene from one of the games, on a card, that i saw live was cool.

Chris, how many people cared about sets like this when there 2000 companies or only one? Answer? Not many at all…

Jon Chuckery: It’s obvious your comment was sarcasm — can’t be missed. However, I was answering the Jon(athon) who commented below you.

So, what you’re saying is that you don’t want Topps to even bother making the set … why didn’t you just say that?

Topps can make whatever they want…its still America (I think)…I’m just not excited about it and dont think its a great use of resources especially for a WS nobody is excited about…sorry Ranger and Cards fans but I can assure you Fox TV wasnt clamoring for this matchup. If Topps has 20 products to put out a year, I’m of the belief that this has too limited of an appeal for collectors and offers non fans of these teams little reason to purchase…No need to take it personal, Chris, but I’m just someone who doesnt get excited by each and every product that comes out…What happened to the “we report, you decide” mantra? Whoops, my bad, wrong news outlet!

I highly doubt sets of the losing team will be printed. With the product not due into stores until Nov 23 (long after the world series “high” has warn off except for those fans of the winning club), that leaves lots of time to specifically print the winning team set and get it distributed.

as to the playoff/world series themed cards, I’d expect them in 2012 Topps Series 1 (since Update released before the World Series started).

I love it – can’t wait to check it out.

… They’ll be more popular than the box sets they (and UD) used to periodically put out.

(Note: for the 2 Red Sox championships, Topps & UD each did one. Iteresting; to me anyways.)
