Who really cares what other people who we don’t know were doing? Stop trying to sound profound like you are doing some service to the hobby with this drivel. Get back to reporting real news and stop with the constant fluff.

I’m pretty certain that most people will agree that the news that occurred on 9/11, which still lives on to this day, is about as real as it gets. As much as this item isn’t directly related to the hobby, collectors are directly related to it.

It would be a disservice for us not to allow the conversation to occur here. Sure, it’s not mandatory, and in all likelihood only a few people will have anecdotes that directly relate to collecting. But I couldn’t sleep at night, knowing I failed to facilitate the opportunity for hobbyists to relate to one another about this very universal topic.

This is the opposite of drivel. This is the heart of humanity — if individuals can embrace it.

I’ll try and make this short… :)

I lived in Michigan, was 15 or 16 (can’t remember) and had just started 10th grade. Every day for the first two weeks when I went into school, I went in feeling fine but within the first two hours of the day I started feeling really sick (mainly nauseous but other symptoms too). I went to the doctors and while waiting in the room, I saw something on the TV explaining Anxiety. I told the doc I had 8/9 symptoms and he gave me Paxil for Anxiety/Worry/Depression (he didn’t specify) and told me to take a week off of school while my body gets used to the medicine. My first day off of school……..9/11/2011. I woke up at 8:36 (that’s what the VCR said, or maybe it was 8:46) turned on the TV (I think I had left it on MTV cause they played music videos back then) and saw a tower billowing smoke. I thought it was a movie. Changed the channel, nope, same movie. But I’ve had that happen before, the same movie being on two channels. When I got to the third, fourth and fifth channels, I actually started to listen. I went to the neighbors to tell my mom (she was having their morning coffee) and they didn’t believe me. 15 minutes later, my mom comes running in the house all freaked out.

Two days later a local store was packing trucks to send and my mom took me to donate a tarp. She said she wished she could donate more and I jokingly said she could donate me (meaning to help load trucks). She did a U-y on the main street and offered for me to help load trucks. I helps load 8 or 9 full semi trucks out the total 13 that were sent (while ducking the school’s camera crew too, lol). Mind you, doing all of that stuff kept my mind off things and I didn’t feel nauseous the whole time. I’ll more than likely never forget that week.

Oh, and Andrew, you don’t have to post this comment, but if you could, or whoever did it, change the picture to show some cards of other sports too, not just football. :) To get political and cynical like CNR (puts on serious face)……BASEBALL IS AMERICA’S PAST TIME, NOT FOOTBALL. lol. Thanks.

And yes, my 9/11 story is Hobby related.
