He barely knew how to write his name. His wife signed most of anything that has his signature in it. there are about 12 known actual shoe less joe jackson signatures. so yes he did sign some things but not very many.

I remember seeing on antiques road Show an appraiser telling a person that anyone with a shoeless Joe Jackson auto had a fake because he was illiterate and couldn’t write his own name. Is there a story behind the autograph?

From mod: Off the top of my head, I believe it was PSA-approved and sold at last year’s National. It may be the only one known in existence.
