Pulling with everyday people: Family trio edition

By Andrew Tolentino | Editor

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of going to Arlington, Texas to bust open a box of 2010-11 Donruss Basketball with twin brothers Brandon and Tristan Voss and their father, Todd Voss. In this family trio edition of Pulling with Everyday People, two generations of Vosses revisited youthful pastimes and learned a little more about how trading cards have evolved since they last ripped a pack.

It’s important to see how folks, who aren’t avid hobbyists, take to the current world of collecting.

Andrew, keep them coming! I am addicted to watching box breaks. How do you go about selecting the ordinary folk to do these videos? Is it necessary to live in Texas? :-/ I am willing to do a box break with my dad and my daughters, if you are looking to do a New Jersey Box Busters.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Jerry! We started doing these primarily with friends, extended friends, etc. and they’ve naturally occurred in Texas because that’s where we’re at. However, I’d be flattered if you would be willing to film a “Pulling with Everyday People” segment in New Jersey. The main objective is to rip open a box of cards with folks that haven’t collected in a while or haven’t collected at all. If you’re able to do one on your own up there, please post it on YouTube and send me the link, directly (atolentino@beckett.com). I’ll take a look, and if it fits the concept, we’ll put try to find a home for it on the site.

Looks so cool to me! I wish I had a brother or two! Oh man, I wish my Dad is an avid collector of sports cards! It’ll be so fun to collect with him!
