Its a well chronicled restoration,,,, the original seller had it professionally restored using a high tech lab ( every change that was done was made publicly available),,,,, the buyer of it decided it was a sacrilege to have done that,,,,,, the buyer went and had another lab try and have those changes “reversed”back to what the card looked like when found,,,,,, what you see slabbed now is the result of the “reversal” attempt trying to get it back to its “original” as found state,,,,,, hope this helps your understanding on what the background on the card is,,,, merely google “restored honus wagner “and pics of this slabbed card will appear in 30+ stories,,,,,,
