First look: 2010 Topps Tribute Dynasies & Rivalries Edition

Topps unveiled on Friday its plans for 2010 Topps Tribute Dynasties & Rivalries Edition baseball, which will include six autographed or Relic cards in every box (one per pack) as it focuses on some of the stories teams and showdowns in MLB.

There also will be six parallel cards in every box of the hobby-exclusive product when it arrives in late July (“the week of July 19″ for you who want something more specific).

What’s the big, big, big card unveiled so far? Try a multi-card cut autograph booklet with autographs for the lineup of the 1927 New York Yankees. See it after the jump.

Among the autograph lineups are the Legendary Lineups booklet cards, Rivalries Revisited cuts — which will even include political foes such as John F. Kennedy and Fidel Castro — Franchise Cuts, Tribute Cuts, and three types of autographed Relic cards (single, double and triple).

Among the Relic lineups are Franchise Feats Relics (booklet cards), Franchise Feats BuyBack Relics (past Tribute cards) as well as standard, dual and triple Relics.

All autographs and Relics have parallels — Red (1/1), Gold (1/1), Black (50) and Blue (75).

Read more and see a full batch of preview images after the jump.

The base set will consist of 100 cards — 15 T205-styled Tribute To the Stars cards, 75 veterans and 10 non-baseball rivalries. The parallels will be Red (1/1), Printing Plates (1/1), Gold (50), Black & White (99), Black (99) and Blue (249).

Among the rivalries cards are cards for The Hatfields vs. The McCoys, David vs. Goliath, Moby Dick vs. Captain Ahab, The Montagues vs. The Capulets, the United States vs. Russia and the ever-classic tortoise vs. hare rivalry.

Looking at the preliminary checklist, the notable autograph subjects (non-cuts) include Tommy Hanson, Jon Lester, Gary Carter, Joe Girardi, Dustin Pedroia, Darryl Strawberry, Rick Porcello, Ryan Zimmerman, Clayton Kershaw, Andre Dawson, Gary Sheffield, Duke Snider and the late Mark Fidrych.

Among the autographed Relics are Evan Longoria, David Wright, Matt Holliday, Hanson, Gordon Beckham, Ryan Braun, Porcello, Prince Fielder, Justin Upton, Willie McCovey, David Ortiz, Albert Pujols, Cal Ripken Jr. Rod Carew, Alex Rodriguez, the late Warren Spahn, Ryan Howard, Snider,  Manny Ramirez, Hanley Ramirez, Miguel Cabrera and Vladimir Guerrero.

packed-out version of e-Topps with relics and sigs, same as every year. Still nice though.

But, is that piece of “Topps Certified Memorabilia” on Thurman Munson’s card from a bat, or a seat?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Topps is still using sticker auto’s I see…Thanks MLB for throwing out Upper Deck. I really do appreciate it, applaud the decision. Way to look out for the fan. Nothing like an eTopps card with a seat cushion being passed off as game used memorabilia priced at $200 a box. Can’t wait! Thanks Topps & MLB!!!

I love these cards especially the older stuff and Yankee players. The Robinson card is a must have for anyone.

Topps needs to find a new thing. Retro-retreads and shiny “high end” sets with Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig cards are getting old.
