Upper Deck Stands By Tiger Woods

Upper Deck officials on Tuesday morning announced that the company stands in full support of the embattled Tiger Woods and will continue fulfilling an exclusive relationship with the golfing superstar that’s been in place since 2001.

“Upper Deck will maintain its exclusive agreement with Tiger in both our sports cards and memorabilia categories and we look forward to his eventual return to the PGA Tour,” said Richard McWilliam, Upper Deck’s CEO and Founder. “Tiger and his family have our full support.”

Woods alone helped Upper Deck launch the mainstream golf trading card category in 2001 and his signed memorabilia has been integral to the success of Upper Deck Authenticated in recent years.

Fortunately, I have plenty of Trading cards of Tiger Woods, I am looking forward to more of them. However in regards to endorsements, the current companies that are backing away now, may not be able to convince Tiger to come back to them when he returns as a bigger and better golfer. People will forgive him, and they will turn out just to see if he still has what it takes. Tiger will most definately sign on with upcoming companies looking to boost their products. He is already wealthy without endorsements and won’t mind taking a pay cut in endorsements. Furthermore, there is now an opportunity for the competitors of his current endorsement companies to work with Tiger upon his return. On the flip side, Tiger was wrong for what he did to his wife.
