The John Cena autograph winners are …

Two more contests from the recent pages of Beckett Sports Card Monthly and Beckett Baseball wrapped up over the weekend and we’re here to announce the results of one of them — the winners of John Cena autographed photos from BSCM issue No. 289.

(We’ll announce our winner of the 1989 Upper Deck autographed Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie Card later in the week — and announce our next big Upper Deck contest — once the judges decide on who submitted the best essay.)

We asked readers to describe to us their favorite pieces of wrestling memorabilia and are awarding an autographed photo of Cena (provided by World Wrestling Entertainment) to each of the five fans below:

Chris Gonzalez — Waukesha, Wisc.

Sean McMann — Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Drew Lewis — Winston-Salem, N.C.

Sterling Pingree — Kingfield, Maine

Ryan Kopp — Spokane, Wash.

Each of them told us about their prized item, but perhaps the coolest tale of the bunch was McMann’s. He owns a pretty unique piece of serious wrestling memorabilia. What is it? See after the jump…

From his e-mail: “We have the original Piper’s Pit sign used on the set from the WWE TV tapings back in the 1980s. The WWE used to tape their TV shows here every month (they’d tape four weeks’ of shows in one night) and following their final show here in the late ’80s, my uncle was breaking down the set. Someone on the WWE crew gave him the sign, and it’s been in our basement since then. Last year, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper came back to Poughkeepsie for an autograph signing, and he signed it. He was amazed we still had it!” – Sean McMann

That’s a pretty sweet piece of memorabilia, one that was around for many a memorable moment in WWE history, including this one:

Congrats to the winners.

I have a 26 year old son that has learning disabilities due to having seizures since he was 2 1/2 yrs old. He is a big John Cena fan and would love to be a wrestler. He aways wanted to play football in school but the doctors would not let him. I also know a lady that is going to be 100yrs old Feb 13. We are going to have her a big party. She loves wrestling and John Cena. She goes wild when she talks about him. I know it is impossible but I would love to get John to meet them both around her birthday and/or get them a signed picture.

Thanks Glenna Diamond
