Latest Upper Deck gem features Ali, Jordan and Tiger signatures

ustigeralimj

Upper Deck has produced an autographed item that just might not be toppable among living signers — its Legends of Sport lithograph signed by Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

It’s the first item ever signed by all three sports legends. The 57-inch wide and 34-inch tall framed piece is limited to 500 hand-numbered copies. A price was not announced, so interested buyers are told to visit www.upperdeckstore.com, or call 1-800-551-8220, ext. 2292 for more information.

“We knew we had something special in the making as we planned this rare piece,” said Tim Muret, vice president of Upper Deck Authenticated, Upper Deck’s memorabilia division. “Not only have Ali, Jordan and Tiger never appeared together on signed artwork before, which makes this piece extraordinary, but the wow factor when you see the item up close just takes your breath away. It’s an investment piece that is sure to appreciate.”

While Jordan and Woods have been part of Upper Deck’s stable since 1994 and 2001, getting Ali on the piece was key for the company.

“We are very excited to have Muhammad contribute to such a landmark piece,” Muret said.

And the importance of the trio wasn’t lost on Ali or Jordan, either.

“I’m excited to be involved in this, especially with these two amazing men, who have transcended their sport to become cultural icons,” said Ali in an Upper Deck release.

“I am thrilled to be included in this historic piece with Muhammad Ali and Tiger Woods,” Jordan added. “I admire them both for their achievements in their sports and as people.”

Chris Olds has collected sports cards and memorabilia since 1987. Before coming to Beckett Media, he wrote about the hobby for the Orlando Sentinel on his blog, SportsStuff, and for the San Antonio Express-News and The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News.
