It was late last night early this morning - but it finally happened. The newest Sony Online Entertainment title Free Realms is finally live for all players!

This very colourful game is free to play - with benefits if you decide to go with a membership plan of $4.99/m. This will allow you to unlock some member-only jobs and benefits, and it's worth looking in to.

If you're interested in giving this game a try (and who wouldn't!) you can check it out at their web site:

FreeRealms

Players can pick up any number of jobs and level them all or none at once. Who wouldn't want to be a dog trainer derby racer!

Have you played the game? What do you think? Is it good for families with younger children? Perhaps a back up game to that triple A title you're playing? Lets hear some thoughts!

Sony Online Entertainment
Player of the Year 2009 Contest

Get ready to celebrate with fellow gamers and the creators of your favorite Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) games at this year’s 2009 Fan Faire, June 25-29, at Bally’s Las Vegas! You’ll have the unique opportunity to engage in lots of social activities, including in-game tournaments, developer forums, live quests, and the chance to be honored as SOE’s Player of the Year!

The Contest:

From Friday, April 17, 2009, 12:01 a.m. PST, through Sunday, May 10, 2009, 11:59 p.m. PST, SOE will host it’s official Fan Faire Player of the Year 2009 contest in which you can go online and nominate the most dedicated SOE player (including yourself) for this coveted title! We want to know who YOU think is the most deserving and why!

Do you know someone who is the poster child for your favorite SOE title? So dedicated to the game, he or she walks around with bloodshot eyes, sleep deprived, wearing his or her favorite wrinkled SOE T-shirt? Does this player stand out as the first person to go beyond the call of duty to help fellow community gamers in and out of the game? If so, you may have the perfect candidate, and we want to know more!

To enter the contest, simply submit a 300 word (or less) letter or role-playing story by e-mail to SOEContests@soe.sony.com explaining why this exceptional player deserves to be honored as Player of the Year. You may also include a link to an image (screen capture, artwork, video, or photo) to go along with your entry. See the Official Contest Rules for submission requirements.

At the end of the contest, up to two lucky winners will receive a trip to Vegas to join us in the festivities. So good luck to everyone, and we look forward to seeing you at Fan Faire!

Topic: More great things headed for GU52
Posted: Friday, April 24, 2009 1:46:41 PM
Have you heard about all of the wonderful new things coming to EQ2 in Game Update 52? No? Well here's a little peek!

Rothgar talks about user generated content with the new player-written books that will be available in game!

Kristie writes about the new Research Assistants that are going to be making their way into game. Have a master spell that you've always wanted to scribe but could never afford? This may be the method for you.

Of course that's just a little taste of what's to come. Keep up to date on the official EQ2 forums for more details!
Topic: Station Marketplace Adds new Items!
Posted: Tuesday, April 07, 2009 1:02:56 PM
The Station Marketplace is adding new items to game today that you can purchase via. Station Cash - while we're used to getting appearance armor and house items, these are a little more unique.

The items will allow you to purchase a 1 time name change for your character, or a 1 time gender / appearance change - or even a 1 time change of all three things. The prices are fairly reasonable. $15 to change the name of your character, and $25 if you want to change all three.

If you're interested in taking a look at these new items, check out the official site here, and if you're interested in what everyone else has to say on these new items you can read all about it in the official forums here. Of course we're always eager to hear what readers think, so if you have an opinion feel free to post it below! Are these new items something you personally would take advantage of? Did a friend or family member stop playing the game and you'd love to be able to customize the characters they left to you so that they feel like your characters and not someone else'? Let us know!
