Your thoughts on gading printing plates
Has anyone graded a printing plate? Is it worth trying to grade? As you know they use them to print the cards and they are not in mint condition. Does the imperfections add to the value of the card?

well my opinion on plates probably isn't a popular one, but I see them as being worth their weight in tin, almost, so I wouldn't grade them, that's just me though.

I'd have to agree with this. I don't like them and I don't look at them as true 1/1s, mainly because there are usually at least 4 of them.
As for grading, I wouldn't bother with it since I'm pretty sure you'd get a fairly bad grade on them.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that as far as graded cards are concerned the lower the grade is never, ever, better. Even when dealing w/ plates.

If you think about it though, each color has a different plate, and different features they add to the card.  That is just my way of thinking about it.

On the other topic, I would not grade them.  I am basing this on the ones that I have.  They would not grade very favorably.  Only my opinion though.  Maybe yours are in better condition?

I would REALLY like to trade for an Aaron Rodgers Contenders RC to finish my Packers Contenders Collection.

If I may add something else here...

Many times people will get a card graded for the perk of having a card protected in a thick glass slab. These printing plates however typically don't have corners and there is no need to worry about fraying either so it's not like these plates are anywhere near as comparatively fragile as a standard card.

I wonder why people would have any 1/1 standard card graded in the first place, unless it's for his/her own personal collection. If I was in a position to spend a lot of money right now and someone had a 1/1 of a player I collect I wouldn't care if the guy ran over it with his truck, I would still pay a lot for it. This is because and only because supposedly only one of it exists in the world.

Well there is alot of good points and would have to agree that grading it is not going to up the value nor add much protection since it is already worn and its made of tin. Thank you for the feedback
